I found two in the Bruce Grant book "Encyclopedia of rawhide and leather braiding." Tom

Nicely done. How did you get that color. I'd like to try it. I can never get the fade to look that beautiful. Tom

And the Hits Keep Coming for the Bearman!
carr52 replied to King's X's topic in Books, Journals and Photo Albums
That is beautiful work. I'll be out in the woods tomorrow looking for oak leaves so I can try it and make a pattern. Tom -
I have that one and yes it's a booger to carve. Even harder to bevel. I ended up using a modeling spoon to bevel a lot of it and that seemed to work pretty good for me. But it is pretty nice looking pattern. Tom

Heres another attempt at the dasher bag. I tapered the gusset a little but didn't take into account the size difference of the top flap so it left it a little too open. oops. I didn't do any carving on it either. I'll wait till I get the darn thing figured out before I get into that on the next one. Tom

Thank you for sharing that photo. Don't you just wish you could go back in time and see it first hand? Think of all you could learn. Tom

Thats a book everyone needs in their library. I want it. tom

I agree. It is fun working out the pattern. I'm just glad that I have LW to help me. I think my little granddaughter will like it. Tom

Well here it is almost done. The straps are still out in the sun getting a tan. This was left out in the sun for three days off and on. Tom

I really like your work and as far as the "old red dye" keep it. I love the color. Tom -
Wild Rose Card Case
carr52 replied to Storm's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
I love it. What color ecoflo antique did you use? Tom -
I like that "A LOT" better. Especially the shape. Narrower at the top instead of square looking like mine. Thank you so much. The wheat sheaves are a nice gentle touch. I like. Tom

I saw it in the Tandy sale paper and thought I could just make it without buying the kit. As you can see I've made a few mistakes. I have an odd number of holes so I ended up with a knot on the side. Also I cut the top flap to narrow and it leaves too big a gap when closed. Thats all ok for the first one. I'll redo the pattern and post it when I get the bugs worked out. Tom

First off I'd like to say I love your work. Second is that this came at a very good time for me. I'm making one of my grand daughters a notebook/journal and this pattern will come in handy. Thank you. Heres a pic of what I have so far. It's the same pattern I used on the bible cover I made for her mom. The thing on the right is the inside pocket. Tom

That looks like it will be just right for my little KELTEC 9mm. Gonna have to try tis one for myself. Thanks Randy. Tom -
I saw this on face book so I thought I'd try and post it. Dont know how to insert a link so you'll have to copy and paste it in your browser to make it work, I think. http://www.mywebtattoo.com/gallery/ Tom I just tried it and works fine. Enjoy. Tom

I found that a dead blow hammer works great. The lead shot inside the head helps prevent the ounce. Tom

I think the docs finally got me a medication that will work. It's taking me quite a while to do this project cause I can only work on it a few hours a week because of my back but it has been a lot of fun. It's 12x 16 foot and has a nice big work space. 3x6 foot table. I still have a lot of cabinets to build yet. Maybe I'll have it done by this time next year. It'll double as a carpenter shop for me to play in also. Tom

Always willing to share with others. Here you go. I hope. I'm not real swift on the computer. The floral part really needs to be cleaned up and it has a line missing on one of the flower stems. Thanks everyone. I hand stitched it. Didn't take long. It just has a place for the bible to fit into, no pockets. Tom
-
It's got a few scratch's on it but thats not from the quality of leather but from my lousy house keeping skills. Should keep my bench cleaner. I had the covers finished before all my back problems flared up again. It just kept getting shuffled around on the bench. So I just now got around to stitching it together and putting a finish on it.
