I picked up a late 1800's clark spool cabinet with 6 drawers and a leather top desk. I've gotten the vinyl off of it. got it about ready for a new leather top. now I have a nice pc of horse hide I've had for years black thought of using that . or is were there a more suitable leather . I want the leather to be correct for the period . its not like I'm going to use it. every one I see on line uses leather no vinyl also online are the old desks with the gold leaf on the trim. this I don't want. horse hide was used in in the beginning to line stump sockets in BK and AK lower limb prosthetic legs and some arms. thin very strong and soft or am I over thinking this?

just for the sake i checked on what fed x would charge and it would seem its more than what the horse would sell for sorry

Good morning, moneys all that. Now if you were to find a set or two more like 2 ? Cast iron vintage, antique cap guns in good shape that work. You might have some thing I might want to trade for. As for the horse the only issue is the peddle on how it attaches has an issue. If we get that far I'll send you some pictures.I'm not sure what shipping will be for something like that.you have a great holiday and see what you can find.

these are the 2 sets want to do the smaller set first how wide do you make your straps 1 1/4 seems about right. other set looks like it had leather as backing ,buts long gone
-
those are new ? mine are a 0-18 peddle bells .the leather is short buckel on one end and no backing leather has S wire . now the other are really old thats 24 bell set that the leather is shot S wiire missing a bell i have a back up . runs from a size 0-14 or a 12 that will be the one i'm trying first. it looks like your using a zipper stop to attach the loops together. about all i'll do with the bells is clean the gunk off them. i'll try and post a pic.

i'm thinking about replacing the leather on a full set of antique sleigh bells so i'm looking for some where to buy enough strap to put this together . i've looked over how they were done in years past. seem they used 1 1/4 inch harness leather with the square holes spaced about 5--6 inches apart so you'd attach the bell then slide a leather loop which is formed over double thickness. attach another loop till every things where you want it . then take another belt the same width and slide it on the back side through the loops. so what would ber better russet thats been died,, or something else skirting ect
