  1. It looks amazing! How did you do the wetmolding and tooling? Did you do the tooling beforehand?
  2. Thanks! Yeah I have a coworker wanting a holster for his springfield and a friend of mine wanting one for his hipoint. I told them I'd need the gun though since I don't have the dummy guns. I'm not sure if I'm good enough to charge money for anything yet but I also won't do anything for free. It's a tough spot.
  3. I wasn't to sure about keeping that thread pattern honestly. I did the normal stitching and had some thread left so I started to do it thinking "what if I..."..and I wasn't sure where to tie the knot at for the threading. Since it was a first try at making one I figured it couldn't hurt to experiment but there isn't any functional purpose to it since the leather is glued with contact cement. Do you think it looks tacky? I don't see myself doing it again. Just wondering. Thanks for the response!
  4. Good idea! I made something similar to teach my dog to ring it when he needs to go outside.
  5. Constructive criticism always welcome! I put this project off for a while waiting for the funds to buy a belt clip and eventually just gave in. Even then I had different plans for the belt attachment but cut my template as a left-handed holster. The retention is great, also. It even almost has an audible -click- when the gun goes in. I'm proud of it, though. I made the design by tracing the gun on a manilla folder and adjusting as needed and added a slight camber to the holster. This was my first time trying wet molding, also. Gun was cleared prior to pictures being taken. Beretta px4 storm 9mm subcompact. I like it..it's got a good weight to it.
  6. Thanks! It was a useful, quick thing I made. Since I've made it I learned that the two rivet connections are badly placed. Either 4 rivets or stitching would be better I think. The way they are, they tend to bend and eventually break. I made it with remnant leather
  7. Nice!!! I've been wanting one of these! Any tips for making one?
  8. Was the leather fully dry when you applied the stain?
  9. Very nice! Over time it should soften up and you might not notice the thickness. I like your brand. Where did you get it made?
  10. I like it! It gave it kind of an antiqued look
  11. Very cool! How did you get the letters raised so high?
  12. It's beautiful! The braiding and the background work are so consistent! I'm just learning about this now so I'm wondering if there were any steps you took to make the holster weather/water proof? Thanks!
  13. Hi! This isn't mine, but I thought I'd share the opportunity since I can't afford it myself.
  14. I appreciate the upfront comments! If I didn't want to improve I'd just listen to my friends who think it's perfect. I did use a strap cutter. I'm not sure why the nametag got misaligned besides the rivet placement. Thankfully it's for my friend's dog so I'll get to see firsthand how the edges wear. She requested the handle because she's a kennel attendant at a dog (mostly police dog) training facility and she's found the handles to be very convenient. True I didn't round the edges on the nametag. The 6rivets was definitely an attempt to make a really strong product as the "dog" is a high content wolfdog. I didn't think it might mess with the integrity of the leather. Thank you for all of the advice! Attached is a picture of the pup that got the collar. She's 6months old.
  15. Thanks for the response! Which part of the design you disagree with? The spikes or the handle? Which tooks should I be investing in? I'd like to make better collars and leatherwork in general. As for the lining I made it over-sized so that I could cut it flush after I sewed it...but I had trouble with cutting it. Thanks again!
  16. I just started making leather goods. I started by carving coasters but what I'm really into is making more usable items. My main focus will be dog collars and harnesses and I want to be capable in all areas! Leather armor, holsters, sheaths, and more! Right now besides experience, I'd like to learn more about the difference types of leathers including the types of processing and thicknesses and their best uses. My current experience is only with remnant leather and veg tan. Attached are my two dogs, Zwei(2yr old white husky/german shepherd mix) and Machina 'Maki'(border collie/cattledog mix I think). Thanks! I posted something in "Show off!" and hoping my next project to be a gun holster for my beretta px4storm subcompact.
  17. Nice! I really like that fade effect. Is there a tutorial that you followed?
  18. Nice! By the way is that a Jericho? I was thinking about it as my next gun. Do you like it?(sorry if this is off-topic. Feel free to PM me)
  19. Thanks! The person who's dog I made it for requested black, spikes, and with a handle.
  20. These were the first two I made. Maki's collar was the second.
  21. This is the third dog collar I've made and I'm super proud of it! I spread it over the course of a couple of weeks depending on available time and money for supplies. I'm open to critique and suggestions. I made the handle soft by rolling a thin piece of upholstery leather and sewing it in there. Thanks for looking
  22. Very nice! I just got a subcompact beretta and it didn't come with a holster like my springfield did.
