  1. I’m off to Glastonbury festival tomorrow so I finally had a chance to finish my belt bag I had previously made one for myself then I got a new phone and it won’t fit!! This is my first go at making one like this and I pleased with how it turned out its pretty solid though as I made it from 2.5mm veg tan. Also made a bracelet then decided I should do a wallet to match that so that was a bit of a rush job today but I’m pretty happy with how it has come out.
  2. I really like those I've not seen anything like that before, almost makes me want to try stamping again
  3. I've been having a go at making some belt bags for Glastonbury music festival in June, I made 3 last year which was my first attempt and when I've looked at then recently I decided I can now do a better job than I did then. The brown one was a test one to try out my pattern then I did the tan one with some 2mm belly that seems to be better so thought I'd go a bit wild with the colours for the next, it is for Glastonbury after all so this is tame in comparison to what you see there, It's good to look at stuff I did when I was just beginning as even though these are still pretty basic there has been a marked improvement, so its slowly onward and upwards.
  4. These may not be what your looking for as they may be too bright in your photos but you can get white blanks off eBay. I searched for ID card blanks on eBay.co.uk and they are around £7 for 100.
  5. Thanks, the yellow is veg tan goat dyed with feibings pro oil dye (yellow)
  6. That video is very interesting I'll have to give that a go sometime
  7. Thanks for the comments, I used a pipette initially from just a few inches above then I ended up with the leather on the floor and all 6ft 3in of me standing on a chair , I also used a paintbrush that I hit against my hand to get a finer spray.
  8. It has been about 6 weeks since I made anything so I thought this weekend I’d have a go at a couple of simple wallets. I was inspired by a post on here a few weeks ago to have a go at splattering the dye so these are my attempts at doing that. probably not to everyone's taste but I certainly enjoyed doing it. One lesson I have learned from this is that it is surprising how far dye will travel when you get a bit carried away with splattering I ended up with it all over the place
  9. No problem I've been called a lot worse If you dye your own leather its worth having a look in the box on the counter they have a few small bottles of fiebings leather dye that have signs of leakage for £2.50 I think. I've bought a few now and they have been full bottles so worth a look
  10. Thanks, The Kip is about 1.2-1.5mm the goat I used for the pockets is .9mm. I called into Le Prevo again yesterday for mainly for a few buckles, D rings and a couple of small bottles of dye ended up spending £135 bought some more of the Kip and goat.
  11. I bought some Kip leather last week from Le Prevo in Newcastle so thought I’d do a couple of wallets with it. Both of these have Kip outers with goat inners. First time using Kip and I quite like it I’ve mainly used goat till now and I wanted something a little thicker for the outers of my wallets.
  12. Thanks I quite like that one as well I'm going to repeat that in the next belt I do I like the look of the triangle stitching but I couldn't fit my stamp in it I'll have a try at adapting that to see if I can get it to work.
  13. Thanks, I burnished the slot with the pointed end of my hand burnisher and with a burnishing gum I bought from Goods Japan. The gum is really good best thing I've tried so far for burnishing. Seiwa Tokonole Burnishing Gum
  14. Thanks, I don't currently have a swivel knife but I'll be getting one if I decide to do more stamping, I probably need to watch a bit few more youtube videos before my next attempt.
  15. Thanks, if I do any more stamping I'll definitely be doing a bit of practice first, I almost gave up on this as my third impression was done the wrong way I forgot to rotate the tool, luckilly due to my inexperience I wasnt making a very deep impression so I was able to cover it up. The stamp was bought from etsy basket stamp
  16. Thanks, to be honest I've never used the camo tool before and I had no idea I'd done it backwards
  17. I was off work a couple of weeks ago with man flu so I thought I’d have a go at doing some belts and dying them myself. They seem to have turned out ok but I still need to burnish the edges a bit better to be honest I didn’t have the energy to do them at the time due to the flu J I also thought I'd have a go at taking some better photos as up to now I'v just been using my phone. I bounced my flash upwards and behind me for these and the lighting seems ok, if I get time I'll experiment with backgrounds a bit more exciting than the white I've used here.
  18. I bought a basket stamp about 3 months ago so I thought it was time I gave it a try. I’m not sure stamping is for me but I’m pretty pleased with my first attempt.
  19. Thanks for the kind comments everyone. The stamp was bought from etsy cost me $23.90 (£19.57) delivered to the UK the Handwritten one was ordered 17th Dec arrived here 3rd Jan the other one took a few days less as that was ordered in November so didn't have to contend with Christmas postage. Brass Stamp
  20. Also do you think it is best to just stamp on the inside of the wallets of on the outside. I know I've gone overboard on the card wallet doing it inside and outside but I'd just received my new stamp and couldn't resist trying it out
  21. Here are a couple I did over the Christmas break. Unfortunately photos aren’t great as they were just taken with my phone. I’d be interested to hear which of these stamps people prefer. I’ve been using a g clamp with these which has worked ok but I’ve now an arbor press so hopefully that will give me more consistent results. Both are 3cm width. Personally I think I like one that is handwritten as I think it adds a more personal touch.
  22. I’ve had another go at doing a wallet this time it’s for a Christmas present so I tried to take a bit more care with this one and not make my usual mistakes. I still need to work on my edges as there is a little bit of a glue line visible but it’s one of my better edges so far. This was done with goat skin and it was dyed with mahogany and walnut. I avoided my usual bright yellow and red pockets this time as I didn’t think they were suitable for my friend who I’m giving this to. I received my first makers mark the other day so I kind of went overboard with it by putting in inside and outside the wallet I’ll probably just stick to the one the next time. My friend like me is a proud Northumbrian so I thought he wouldn’t mind having it referenced a couple of times. Any advice as usual appreciated.
  23. Just finished my latest wallet, it’s probably the best one I’ve done so far i.e. not as many mistakes as usual although I still managed a few. Made with .9mm goat and dyed with Fiebings Pro Dye. The outer is lined to a thickness of 2mm with bright pink leather I found it in Le Prevos scrap bin. I should probably get into the habit of asking them to identify the scraps I find just for future reference.
  24. I've been thinking of having a go at a simple key ring fob and I saw one on pinterest of a heart that I thought I'd be able to do, so this is my attempt.
