Thanks! I've been making steampunk gas masks for awhile and wanted to try some animal masks with the same look.

I just finished a large steampunk rhinoceros mask and wanted to share it with you all. It is made of 5-6 oz veg tan with cold cast aluminum metal parts. Best, Tom

Thanks, I've seen that.

Does anyone use your clicker for embossing?
-
Hi Dustin, Regarding your 4 ton clicker, how much room is there between the metal base and the presser foot?
-
I'm in the market for a manual clicker and am considering both Weaver's hand-operated clicker and the Lucris MA Series III Manual 5 ton press. Can anyone who has experienced both tell me which they prefer? Is one better built than the other, or more powerful, or easier to use? Thanks for any advice.

Thanks, Andrew. Very useful information for someone like me looking to buy.

Thanks, every one!

I was commissioned recently by a British filmmaker to create Bottom's donkey head mask in a steampunk version. I like this and will prolly make more animal masks along this line.

You've got the creep factor down pat!

Its been awhile since I've posted any of my work. Here is my latest mask. The gray parts are cold cast resin with aluminum.

Hi Chris, I haven't been on the forum for awhile. I don't remember where I got that rubber. The thickness is about 1/8".

Great job! That is not an easy mask to put together.

Very nice! Beautiful colors.

I start with a life casting of a face, than use modeling clay to sculpt the snout. Spray it with lacquer so that masking tape will stick to it, and cover it with tape. Mark where your seams will go and cut the tape of with an Xacto knife. The tape pieces become your pattern. I document a lot of this sort of process on my blog http://tombanwell.blogspot.com/ Good luck!

Here is a very different kind of mask for me. A full face mask made of molded veg tan leather. Rather experimental.

How did you attach the sole to the uppers? How did you form the uppers over the lasts? -
Ron, You might want to list your Boss on Etsy. I listed mine for $950 and it sold in three days. They do take a percentage of the sale (I think its 3.5%). https://www.etsy.com/transaction/135571390
