Congrats on the good buy.It sounds like all you need to do is loosen the center foot screw & turn it alittle.Your correct about the foot pressure screw if you look in the back you'll see the leaf spring that your adjusting & how when you turn it down you get more pressure,don't use the little black screw on top.On the clutch motor,they have a cork pad in them & sometimes the face of the flywheel in there gets rust on it so it grabs,there's 3-screws you can takeoff & take the clutch unit of & put a tablespoon size of grease or vaseling on it to make it slip better. Leather point needles are 135x16 you can look here: http://www.tolindsewmach.com/thread-chart.html to match your size thread with the correct size needle.You should be able to find them. You can go to Consews webiste & copy off the manual look in the resources part. Since it's been setting don't forget to oil everything that moves on it & it should be a great machine for you. Bob

Put it on a long stitch & check to see if it hits in the front or back,if not you can loosen the screw in pic#1 & adjust it there,If the feed dog is hitting then you'll need to loosen the 2-screws in pic#2 that are underneath. HTH Bob

The first one is a used Juki Lu 562 - from the little bit I have found to read about them it sounds like they can sew up to 20oz of leather and are an overall good machine. This particular machine has not been used in over a year, the gentleman that used it had an upholstry business and has passed away. I spoke to his wife about the machine and she said it is in good working order. She is asking $650 for the machine and a couple tables he had to go with it. Is this a good price? Would this machine work for what I do? My guess is not being used in so long it would need a good servicing. Correct? Take sample of what you want to sew & try it out,that's not to bad of a price if it sews ok,you should oil it too before you sew on it,esp the hook & bobbincase area. HTH Bob

Richard, You need to loosen the 2-screws on the collar that you get to through the top plate. Also make sure you sand down any burrs on the shaft were the grooves are for the handwheel screws or it won't slide off. Let me know if you need anymore help. Bob

Yes,you have to move the gears (big one) & hooks in adj the hooks so they are real close w/o hitting the needle.

If you still need a manual go to Consew's website,click on resources & copy off the one for the 206RB-5 your machine is very similar to it. HTH Bob

They can take alot of heat,I've sewn fast before & when you stop it will burn the thread in two.That's when you know you have to slow down or start lubing the thread.We have rigged up air coolers that blow on the needle & cool them & then there is also coolsew needles that are supposed to run cooler. Kevin, Here's the threading diagram.Most people use a cold wax or nylon thread so the heaters won't be needed. I'll bet your gonna have fun running that monster?? Bob

Here's a pic all the little spring does is keep the fish hook little part against the collar so when you turn it backwards to re-engage the clutch it pulls on this part,when it's missing use your finger to push it against the flat spot on the collar. Let me know if you need anymore help. Bob

Glen, Yes,the knob on top is for the foot pressure.This machine is better suited for sewing upholstery & canvas than leather due to the feet & feed dog s marking,yes,you can work with it & make it better BUT you might be better off getting a compound walking foot needle feed. Ok,with the size 69 if you want a nice fine looking stitch you can use a #16

Singer made these numbers up years ago to ID the different points like the longer 135x17 (round point) chnges to 135x16 for a leather point. THEN to confuse the issue even more there is different types of point like right twist,left twist,narrow wedge & the one most people like to use in this type is diamond point it will make the best looking stitch.The twist points will give you a stitch the looks zig-zag & diamond point runs in a straight line. You can't beat the price,but as James knows it won't be quite heavy enough for the tack,you should handle the belts ok. At least we have the parts in stock for it. Let me know if you have any questions about it. Bob

Lift up the end plate over the needle bar & you'll see the screw that holds it,loosen & drop it down 1/8"

You might try to hold the needle down about 1/8",tighten the screw & see what happens,this will let you know if the needlebar got pushed up.
