  1. When it gets jammed up like this put some oil all the way around the hook & like Eric said then undo the belt & rock it back & forth.
  2. Take the belts off the reducer & spin it,Darren is right I've seen the bearings go bad too.
  3. For the tension to work properly it needs to be around the one you mentioned on the side 1& 1/2x or else it'll do just what you say it's doing.
  4. Have you tried to tighten the top tension any yet?
  5. Looping on the bottom is the top thread.Either it isn't threaded correctly or it's to loose, make sure your going around the second tension on the side 1/1/2 x
  6. I've head acetone is good.We have a dip tank with some diesel fuel, used atf & alittle used motor oil,it stinks but does the job on rusty heads.
  7. You might want to check the nut on the motor that holds the pulley on.
  8. Is it bad enough that you need to find a barrel of kerosene large enough to dip it in?
  9. A larger size might help, what size ru using? On a Champion as your finding out you can turn it slowly by hand, watch & usually figure out the problem .
  10. Champions have a part just above the shuttle that looks like a hatchet this is called a splitter, just above it is a little part called a loop opener check & see how much play(left to right) this has when starts to move to the right. Usually they are loose, either the roller or cam is worn.
  11. Ususally you can get alittle more lift under the foot w/a foot lifter.
  12. Yes,it will fit on the 105 too,the only difference between the 104 it's a flatbed & 105 is a cyl arm,on some machines the needlebar thread guide gets in the way but yes,it does fit & lets the leather go through with less foot drag.
  13. You know how mistakes are they never happen where it doesn't show.
  14. The thread guide @ the needlebar will geta groove in it,Try running some thread through the front of it & pull it back & forth to see if it shreds.
  15. Randy, Wiz is correct you need to tighten the foot pressure a turn or so the stop this. Some leather will have hard spots in it & when the foot lifts as your sewing the shuttle skins the thread because a full loop of thread wasn't formed because of the lifting. The thread your using from us is lubed & that is the correct size needle.
  16. Set it so that the point of the shuttle passes about 1/8" above the top of the eye of the needle as you turn the machine in the direction that it runs.
  17. When we rebuild these we always check the needle for play as it seems that the hole elongates from side to side from the repeated tightening of the needle. It prrobably takes years for it to happen & will esp cause skip stitches the thicker you sew. Sooo how much play do you have when you loosen the screw that holds the needle?
  18. We stock #14 in a D point.
  19. There's a screw (knurled) on top right behind the spool pin, lefty loosey.
  20. They aren't the best quality. Take it from a person that sold some & had some problems. Bob
  21. They do not interchange, what is the problem that it needs to be replaced? Bob
  22. Try leaving it unplugged for a good 1/2 hr & while it's unplugged you might want to take the cover off & look inside as once in a while a wire can slip off & will cause the light to come on. off & do this too,We have sold machine with this same motor & they seem to holdup very good. Bob
  23. We have for $15.00 a pk(10) that's for the needles or awls. Bob
  24. I just measured a 1000H needle & they are 79mm Bob
  25. Nice Shop!! It doesn't look like your hurtin for equipment or tools any. I like that quote. Be dure to show us what you make with the new machine!. Bob
