Randy, Wiz is correct you need to tighten the foot pressure a turn or so the stop this.Some leather will have hard spots in it & when the foot lifts as your sewing the shuttle skins the thread because a full loop of thread wasn't formed because of the lifting.The thread your using from us is lubed & that is the correct size needle.

Set it so that the point of the shuttle passes about 1/8" above the top of the eye of the needle as you turn the machine in the direction that it runs.

When we rebuild these we always check the needle for play as it seems that the hole elongates from side to side from the repeated tightening of the needle.It prrobably takes years for it to happen & will esp cause skip stitches the thicker you sew. Sooo how much play do you have when you loosen the screw that holds the needle?

We stock #14 in a D point.

There's a screw (knurled) on top right behind the spool pin,lefty loosey.

They aren't the best quality. Take it from a person that sold some & had some problems. Bob

Try leaving it unplugged for a good 1/2 hr & while it's unplugged you might want to take the cover off & look inside as once in a while a wire can slip off & will cause the light to come on. off & do this too,We have sold machine with this same motor & they seem to holdup very good. Bob

We have for $15.00 a pk(10) that's for the needles or awls. Bob

I just measured a 1000H needle & they are 79mm Bob

Hey Randy, You have a nice shop,bike & esp a great machine there!! Yes,as Wiz mentioned you'll get the hang of when to check the bobbin & hopefully catch before it runs out.Using 277 thread there's approx 60 feet on it so if you can keep track of how many feet you sew you won't have to check it so often. P.S. I wished you would of told me you had a Harley we take them in on trade!! Just in case you need to make some room. Have Fun, Bob

I just talked to the owner of this machine & gave him a quote on the repairs & he said if you think the machine looks bad I should of seen his air compresser,he says she broke the head off it. Bob

It's a needlefeed machine so that's the feet it takes.There are left & right toe feet,single & double welt & guide feet toe & a narrow double toe. The tangling might be do to wrong threading,look @ diagram. #207 might work if you really tighten up the tension alot BUT #138 will work alot easier w/#22 needle Bob

It still looks likea 224R needle feed machine that will sew to 20 oz of leather.

I can't read the model# in the pic,121L is probably the # on the motor,I think this machine is a 224R?? Can you check & let me know? Bob

I got a call from a customer in Florida say Bob you know how I have this thing for woman well she caught me talking to another one & she got mad & took a hammer to my machine. Looks like it'll need a handwheel,reverse handle,tension unit & takeup lever. It came tore apart,he took it somewhere & they quoted him $500.00 SO then he gave me a call. This is a first for me & just wanted to share with everyone. So be careful out there guys(LOL) Bob

Machines don't do this,either they sew & sew good or they just don't sew,I'm almost certain your either not threading it correctly or the top tension is to loose.

to loose needle thread tension,you don;t mention which model you have but if it;s a newer one like 29K71 you have a takeup adjuster screw,turn it out for more travel & last how much play in the gears? Bob

The difference between a 2 & 5 is the machines in your pics are the stitch length adjuster that the ealrier 206's have I think starting w/#3 they had a newer style that used a knob on the front & reverse was operated by pushing the lever down (which is easier) than up like the machines in the pics. If you go to my website you can look @ the new Consew 206RB5 & see the difference. HTH Bob

I just thought I'd throw in my $0.02.If your not careful when threading this type of tension unit this can happen because the thread isn't pulled past the little guide on the lower thread disc,called thread controller.Sometimes the little screw loosen & it'll turn clockwise & put this at an angle that will make it hard the get the thread in past the guide, so the little screw should be in the middle of the slot,if it's on the leftside then here is where the problem is,See attached diagram. When you thread this you pull it down the rightside,under,up the left & pull the thread to the right until you hear a snapping noise,then it will be behind were it belongs & won't jump out when your sewing. The problem with the Boss is the needle is so long & of course when you go maller it'll bend & break alot easier.The smallest size made is a #110 which is what I recommend for #69 in these machines.A 120 would make a larger hole. Bob
