  1. The one before this one was cleaned and was way worse so in the garbage can so tried not cleaning and came out better. Was basically put in the dye and removed in a second . Reminds me of the way end grain on wood takes dye.
  2. Dip dyed. Tandy side with Fiebings light brown. Why does it do this?
  3. Dip dyed. Tandy side with Fiebings light brown. Why does it do this?
  4. Edit post. Fiebings Tan dye. and planning on stamping. Dang autocratic.
  5. Did some searching but figured I'd ask anyways. planning on doing some simple valet trays as Christmas presents. Planning not stamping initials at an angle in the center. 2 questions. What is the best way to get the stamps lined up and can I "color" them with a sharpie before I dye? Planing on using a Fiebings Tanya dye. Thanks for any advice. Matt.
  6. You can send to yourself. say Text to Fb messenger or email. Resave the pic and it's a fraction of the size.
  7. It turned out pretty good. Pretty soft a little snug should loosen a bit with use.
  8. I got some Fiebings Aussie as my local tandy didn't have a carnauba cream. on the recommendation of the store manager. see how that works and report back. Again thanks everyone for helping with your experience. Matt.
  9. Cool! I just wish I had the tools and ability of make the Al Stohlman one in one of my books.
  10. I'm assuming water. for the 50/50. That seems to be the cut % from what I've read.
  11. Copy the darken part. I like the darker stuff.
  12. Thanks guys. Will just have to experiment and see what I like best.
  13. I'm looking to do some basic front pocket wallets. Posted pic of one my daughter did in show off section. Here's the question. After dying and sealing with Resoline it's kind of stiff. Using 3to4oz veg tan. Can I coat with a boot dressing type of product instead of Resoline? As it stands it feels stiff and "plastic" like.
  14. My 9 year old was by me for the weekend. Wanted to help with daddy's new hobby.lol. She did every thing but cut out the leather. She did cut the pattern out but wanted me to do the leather. Dyed with Fiebings oil dye and finished with 50/50 Resoline. My question is its pretty stiff will it "soften" up in time? She gave to her mom for her birthday. You can tell where she started and the progress of her stitching.
  15. Thanks. It turned out pretty good. I would have preferred the stitching continuous around the trigger but he just wanted the line under the barrel. Looks unfinished to me.
  16. Guy at work asked for a pocket holster for his Derringer. Made it with 3/4 veg tan. He wanted it very small.
  17. I like the way it's sitting in the holster been wearing it for 2 days now. Conceals nice under just a t shirt. Draws and reholsters sweet. Looking at a pancake for my G19 I got a month ago (the Genesis of leather for me watched a Sam Andrews video a wanted to try that.) Other than his stitching machine lock stitch. And straight stitching.lol Mine ain't to far off his. $40 so not a high end holster but I am happy with a start at doing something I really enjoy.
  18. Just started with leather but I have come to embrace the metric system for measuring. It's much more precise for me. Still not sure what a hectare is in relation to an acre though.lol
  19. Correct weight of leather might be an issue too.lol Thought I was buying 7/8 at tandy but it measures 10/12. First time got leather. Got some actual 7/8 now and gonna try again.
  20. I used a scratch awl and a divider on the front to mark stitch lines. What I didn't mention was after glued together was worried made to small again so I wet formed BEFORE sewing. That did not work so gouda.lol. My awl is a Tandy one and it seems more round than it should be. The punch makes more angled holes. Did use a stitching wheel but nothing straight after formed before sewing. Live and learn.
  21. Getting better. Stitching still sketchy. It's better with an stitching chisel but can't seem to get it with an awl.
  22. New to leather but what I've done is just searched holsters for similar sized weapons. Taurus PT140 close match Glock 19. Check for review videos of the Kahr vs whatever. They will always do size comparison and check for the closest in size. Just a thought.
  23. As to the 1.46 file size. I have found if you text them or email pics to yourself it shrinks the file size drastically. Probby a easier way but what works for me since do most everything off my phone.
