  1. Thank you, Sheila. Yes, I used the photo as a reference. I am very far from those who have the talent to draw something from memory (I do not know how to say it in English more correctly).
  2. Thank you, Sir! Probably, if I, apart from the brush, used an airbrush for coloring, it would be possible to improve something. Although, on the other hand, coloring only with a brush looks more hand-crafted, so to speak?
  3. Thank you, Sir! I'm studying while learning the work of professionals. Including your works, which you placed out in one of the topic of this forum.
  4. Work done. Coloring is done with alcohol dyes. Finish - matt polyurethane lacquer.
  5. Sir, this comment from you means a lot to me! Thank you! I'm just now doing the coloring process and I will definitely share the result. And thanks again! The response of a professional like you inspires me.
  6. Thank you! I say to my daughter - I think we set the bar ourselves. You can put it on the same level as yesterday, and consider that this is the limit. As a result, the progress of any abilities (or their sprouts) simply stops. And you can always raise it a little higher and try to take a new height. Not necessarily it will be overcome immediately. But, if you do not try, then nothing happens. But I myself do not always follow these words Sheila, I hope to see your work soon. I think we can learn something from each other.
  7. Thank you. I hope that in the process of completing the embossing I nothing has spoiled.
  8. Thank you! Sheila, Yes, this is the book I mentioned. Magnificent book!
  9. After training on animals and flowers, I decided to try to perform a carving of a person's face. This work still in the process, but I would like to hear critical remarks (For which I will be very grateful) - there is still an opportunity to make adjustments.
  10. In my last project, I diluted the alcohol dye with isopropyl alcohol in a 1: 1 ratio. As a result, the saturation of the dye decreased and I applied it by slower motion, and also got the opportunity to apply 2 and 3 layers "on wet". Having made a cut of the leather I saw a much greater depth of penetration. And the attempt of scratching after full drying almost did not leave a light trace on the leather. I note that I'm using Toledo Super, which has been well tolerated by dilution with isopropyl alcohol. In the case of another dye, it is probably worth first checking the compatibility of the dye and alcohol on a small amount.
  11. The idea with a curves in the border design and asymmetric closing strap is not mine and is derived from the template I acquired. But I really liked them myself too. Thank you, Gary! Such a comment from you really means a lot to me. @ScoobyNewbie, thanks for compliment!

    Doc's Visit.

Sir, in no way did I want to wound feelings nor you nor OP. Perhaps my joke was unsuccessful. From now on, I will try to refrain from this. PS. And yes, I really like this work, as I wrote above.

    Doc's Visit.

I do not think that the too realistic image of a naked ass in the doctor's office looked aesthetic

    Cheerful work I like it!
  15. I sometimes use something like this when I want to get a more voluminous embossment than leather thickness allows, but the use of the inserts is not advisable. I even have a few boxes, where I put thin leather scraps for the preparation of the filler But the quality of the resulting bas-relief method with an insert that described Al Stohlman in the book "The Art of Embossing Leather" is far ahead. Although this method is more labor-intensive.
  16. I have not had time to paste the lining, so please: In this work, I did not use leather inserts to create a deeper relief. This was impractical for this image. In addition, too high a bas-relief for a wallet - rather a minus, because. increases the thickness of the product. Embossing with inserts I use in some products such as bags, where increasing the thickness does not impair the consumer properties of the thing but look well. I hope not to disappoint you with my subsequent works PS. The embossing process with leather inserts I tried to illustrate here http://leatherworker.net/forum/topic/81763-wip-another-mountain-lion-carving-and-embossing/ There, however, there is no photo of the reverse side, but on it - the rear flat part of the leather insert.
  17. @battlemunky, thank you for such a high appraisal of my work. Thank you, @bullmoosepaddles. Glad you liked it.
  18. Continuation. It is dyed with alcohol based dye. I'm use Toledo Super. Treated with mink oil. A small painting with same dye type was applied. In a few days, the embossing will become a little lighter - the oil will be completely absorbed. To be continued...
  19. @Scoutmom103 I found out how this tool is called - Edge Creaser. Manufacturer - WUTA. The search for Googles gives sellers on Amazon and Etsy, but I did not work with them and can't recommend one of them.
  20. Thank you, @Scoutmom103! I know only how it is called in Ukrainian, because I bought it from my Ukrainian supplier. Just in case, here's the link https://leathertools.com.ua/index.php?route=product/product&path=62_65&product_id=1070 Unfortunately, I do not know how much I could be useful to you
