  1. Sir, this is a terrific work and excellent explanations!
  2. Mom asked me to make a small thing with a picture of a lion for gift to colleague . He travels a lot, so the choice was stopped on the cover for the passport. Carving & Embossing was performed. Painted with a spray gun Dyed and applyed finish Now it remains to stitch.
  3. Happy Birthday, Johanna! And many thanks for the excellent resource, created and supported by you. In the success of each of us there is a part of your merit.
  4. It's just a thriller of Hitchcock It's good that everything ended successfully
  5. I'll be much glad if it proves useful to you.
  6. I proceed as follows: 1. I put a tragacanth on the edge with a brush. Wait a few minutes until it absorbs into the leather, but it still does not dry out. 2. Flatten the edge with a hammer. The presence of liquid tragacanth provides the plasticity of the leather and allows to significantly reduce the thickness of the edge when tapping it with a hammer, and after drying it works as a glue, binding the layers of the leather and providing rigidity that facilitates burnishing. Below is a photo of the belt fragment of my bag. Used "sandwich" of 3 layers of leather 4 oz + 5 oz + 2 oz. In this case, the thickness of the edge was only 2.5 mm due to the procedure described above. I apologize for my English, but I hope I managed to convey the meaning.
  7. One not denies second. In some cases I use a sponge, in some (thanks to one of your videos) - a sprayer. This is not a matter of religion, but solely of expediency
  8. I use a cosmetic finely-porous sponge instead of a kitchen sponge. It better retains water and allows more accurate dosage of the amount of water applied.
  9. Hello! I congratulate you on the completion of the great work. I like both of your bags. Looks great! If you do not mind, a little advice (from my own, albeit small, experience). I noticed that the edge looks thick enough. I had such a situation, if I did not work the edge well enough with a hammer, after applying tragacanth to it. The subsequent burnishing of the edge in this case is better.

    Fantastic work!
  11. Happy Independence Day, USA! And many thanks for the support of Ukraine!
  12. This plastic blade is on stock in my Ukrainian supplier http://leatherwork.com.ua/product_554.html But something tells me that after all, it will be easier to get it from the USA
  13. I join the opinion of Gary. Looks very cool. I especially liked the Siren
  14. Mike, I liked your idea with an adjustable strap length. Everything else, as always, is superb and thoughtful.
  15. This is really holy war
  16. Speaking about the benefits of Gary's tests and saving money, I was referring to the fact that some limits of applicability of the product were demonstrated. And it is confirmed that there is no ideal product that allows you to abandon other ways of processing the edge. Therefore, one should treat it as one of many options and not buy immediately all the colors by liter bottles
  17. Gary, thank you very much for the experiment. It helped save me some money
  18. My comments had a goal not to let you be disappointed. And I'm happy to see that you are serious about achievement of result. Good luck! And I hope to see soon your carved dog
  19. I was not be too lazy and find Z-B197 from the very Chinese set, from which I tried to start work. On the photo - on the left Z-B197 (China nameless), on the right B203 (Kyoshin Elle, inexpensive but quite qualitative for his cost tool). Above the beveling without a cut, below - with a cut. Just compare. Surely, there are professionals who can use and absolutely horrible tool to do a good job, a super-expensive tool will not make a beginner at once a professional. But a novice using a horrible tool is unlikely to make a masterpiece.
  20. I bought my own from a local Ukrainian reseller. I do not think that there is a sense of recommending it for sale in Norway In principle, in the same price category and similar quality, you can buy several stamps for starting from Craftool. As a starting point, you can go here https://www.tandyleather.eu/en/category/craftool-stamps-leathercraft. Probably, the members of the forum-Europeans will be able to offer several more best options.
  21. This set of low-quality Chinese stamps seems to have been created in order to refuse any desire to work with the leather. When last November I decided to try carving for the first time and bought a set of "20 stamps for $ 20" for ignorance, I was extremely upset and thought that my hands were growing from the wrong place. I was particularly disappointed with the bevel. Only buying a few low-cost but completely fulfilling its function of CRAFT JAPAN stamps saved me from giving up the idea to carving of leather.
  22. I really liked your horse! His movement is very realistic!
  23. My puma was supposed to have a more serious look, but turned out slightly surprised
