  1. Great basketweave! Amazingly clear impressions!
  2. Thank you, @bikermutt07! Tom, thanks for your comment! I expect to finish the coloring before the Orthodox Christmas. I hope I have time.
  3. Thank you, sir! Hmm .. I have a good incentive, and she is now in the kitchen
  4. Thank you, @VYO! I very much hope that coloring will not spoil it.
  5. After a little training, I decided to try to make a portrait of my wife. The work is not finished yet - only embossing and carving are done, there is still a coloring to be done. Yana (my wife) has already seen this and I am still alive and I was not even kicked out into the cold
  6. Thank you for such a high appreciation of my work, Sir!

  8. No, this is a standard set. I have astigmatism, so, of course, conventional spherical lenses do not provide 100% image clarity. But due to the design of this head binocular, I, if necessary, can use it with my glasses.
  9. I am 48 years old. The same situation 2 years ago: ( For fine work, instead of glasses I use this one. Illumination and a set of 5 lenses helps a lot.
  10. Isopropyl spirit and a rag (or sponge) helped me in small areas. Spirit move the excess dye into the depth of the leather and softens the sharp color transitions. But in any case not to rub! And test the applicability of this for your dye in an inconspicuous area or on scrap.
  11. Very nice and clear carving and coloring.
  12. Serious work, Mike. Very impressive!
  13. Thank you for your compliments!
  14. In the end... With the help of a photo it is difficult to show the "volume" of the portrait. Made a little movie. LeatherPortrait_1.mp4
  15. I do not think that this work is so good.
  16. Thank you, Sheila! And about the unsuccessful role - I got the impression that almost all very good actors have a film that they are hardly proud of. But this does not detract from their remarkable acting talent in dozens of other films.
  17. Thank you! I am always glad to see YOUR comments on my work! PS. I also was somewhat shocked by picture.
  18. Thank you, @Rolandranch!
  19. Thank you, Sir! The hardest thing was in this work was to embosse an imitatation of skin structure on the leather. Seems to have succeeded done
  20. From the album: Portrait. Leather carving & embossing.

Leather carving and embossing. Size 210 x 270 mm (approx. 8 x 11 inches). The maximum height of the bas-relief is 18 mm (0.7 inches).Used leather 3-4 oz. Spirit dyes + acrylic paints.
  21. Finished. Polyurethane matt varnish is applied. If you compare this photo with the previous one, it is clearly seen how, due to the bas-relief, even a small change in the angle of view changes the picture.
  22. @battlemunky, forgive me for yesterday's brevity - we already had 1:30 in the night and eyes stuck together . Thank you for your high appreciation of my rather modest abilities.
  23. Thank you, Mike! Your praise is worth a lot for me.
