  1. Dwight, Thanks so much for the help. But it would take me the better part of an hour to take the thread out of a complete belt. (What's your secret ??) But I can sew a belt in about 4 minutes. I had better take that back. There are some pretty big boys, out there, lately.
  2. Art, Thanks for the reply. $90 belt (high end, not really) Hand stitching is not an option. Removing the stitching on a 42 inch belt is not really an option, either. Fixing the maching - I totally agree but it's after the fact. You never know when you are going to drop that stitch. There is just so many varibles that could cause the problem. I just thought someone would know of a "wonder" fix for a problem that has happened several times. Anyway thanks for your input. And stay safe.
  3. On a leather belt (lets say light brown with white thread - something noticeable) how can you salvage or correct a "dropped stitch" once you've sewed by it ? Thanks for any suggestion..

  5. That would work fine for me - if it works. I guess I've got 10 or 15 different finish coating products and would love to find just one that I could count on. Thanks for all your help.
  6. I guess I'm getting alittle confused. I use Fiebings Pro Oil (dip for about 10-12 seconds let dry overnight). Then buff and seal with Atoms Wax. Buff again, and then a coat of Bag Kote for the final coat. My problem is that I am having some belts start to crack. My question is: Can you use Resolene 50/50 as a final coat and do away with the Bag Kote ? The Mop-N-Glo, I am not familiar with at all. Thanks in advance for any information.
  7. TwinOaks: Do you cut the Resolene w/ water ? And if I understand you - you use the Resolene as a final coat after the sealer coat. Thanks for your help.
  8. I would like to try a new/different finish on my Bull Hide belts. I now dye with Fiebings Pro Oil, let dry overnight and seal with Atom Wax, buff & apply final coat. Generally Bag Kote. Is there something else that would work so as to not allow the dye to transfer on to clothing. Thanks for any and all help.
  9. OP, I don't know how many you need but I have several sets I will let you have. (achildress3@bellsouth.net)

    Horse Hide

Can someone direct me to a Quality Horse Hide Dist. that doesn't require a $1,000 mim.? I have tried several and the quality just isn't there. Too many imperfections and I understand most comes out of Mexico since most of the US houses have shut down. Thanks for any suggestions.

  13. I have a "top of the line" Airbrush System. The boxes have never been opened. This includes the following: IWATA Professional Airbrush - HP-C Gun #4000 - $99.95 Spray Gun Brushes (5 pc) - Item # 97591 - 6.95 IWATA Studio Series Compressor - item #IS-875 With Smart Jet Technology - $285.95 The total system is $393 or I will sell sperately + shipping. I had planned to start Airbrushing some of my holsters and belts but found that I just didn't have the time to learn the process. A friend of mine has this system and he says it's one of the quietest on the market. If interested please call 678/520-2695 and I can send you pic's.

    Zack White Leather

Add me to the list also, Tim, is 1st rate w/ fair pricing and good business practices. Been to his place several times and purchased 2 sewing machines from him. Buy with confidence.
  17. I use staples and have used them without any problems for several years. The product you are showing is from several mfg's. Get a Weavers catalog and you will find the entire system. Alittle pricey but it will get the job done.
  18. Jim, thanks for the heads up.
  19. My 1st Makers Mark was made out of Delrin. It lasted about 9 months before it started fading. I then went with a lazer cut metal one and it should last a life time. But you pay for it. It depends on what you make and how many times you plan to use it.
  20. I've been looking for 1 1/2" Brass & Nickels upgrades for months and nothing. If I run across your buckle - I let you know.

    Belt Buckles?

Weavers & The Buckle Guy both have them. Good luck.
  22. Horsewreck, I have the Pauls buckles from Weavers but they are for single layered belts. Not for dual layered gun belts. Theres got to be a 2 or 3 pc belt buckle, somewhere, for dual layered gun belts.
  23. I need a Wholesale supplier of 2 & 3 pc plated western buckles to go on dual layered belts. (buckle, keeper & tip). I buy square & round buckles from 1" to 1 3/4" in both brass & nickel a hundred per size at a time. The western buckles would not be in those quantities. I would like to stay in the $30 to $40 range (wholesale) but thus far coming up with nothing. Does anyone have a supplier they would share ?
  24. You guys are great and the information most helpful. I contacted them yesterday but no reply as of yet. I do more gun belts than holsters, so I think I get the hard rolled. Have a great week end.
