I have a rather pricy snapping turtle hide that has more character than a three stooges rerun I only have one shot and do not want to screw it up my plan is to antique the hide with a saddle tan and stain the prominent nodules a black i want the secondary nodules (primary being the lg in the middle) to be a lighter tan than the field so how Do I accomplish this?

I have not seen this issue addressed anywhere here is my fix. If anyone has a different fix please post it your thread breaks in the middle of a run or your bobbin runs out. A backstitch in this area would look bad what I do is pull the thrread out of the leather for approx 2”. Then knot the 2 threads cut singe start a new stitch line by placing the needle in the holes already made, do not back stitch but tie the threads cut singe. no back stitch is showing on the top threads are tied/ singed on the back side

Just an observation, an opinion not an attack you are saying that you decide what can be copied and what can not. Why can’t I decide for myself ? If I decide a widget can be copied and you say other wise Am I wrong or are you wrong? I understand your position and respect it. I respect your decision and will not question it. Respect mine and extend the same respect Here is where the real rubber hits the road if you have an idea that you do not want copied, patent that Idea, If you choose not to protect your intellectual property then it is not only morally and ethically acceptable to copy your work it is also lawful to copy your work

good morning all!! This is one of the craziest post I have read on this forum. every thing we do was done by someone else before us , we copy the method and improve on it then another copies us and so on their is nothing unethical about copying another’s work Do you saddlestitch? Do you burnish edges? That is someone else’s idea pleasr explain the difference? One is a stitch that makes a design the other is a stitch that makes a design, same with a laced edge

Looking at the sheath it looks to me like the leather was wet and sewn with a large diameter string in the bottom out the top around to the bottom. Then left to dry pretty clever, I think I will try it.

Installled leather scales on a little 380 pew pew. It simply had to match the holster and the shoes, As I was working on this I noticed my Ak wondering around in the back yard looking for a victim. So I tricked it to come to me with a promise of oil added a grip wrap this wrap is glued and sewn in place it does not slip on if it slipped on it could slip off , that would not be good have fun, stay safe

Try this on your next stick Use your leather saddle tan antique dye on the stick Coat a small rag with usmc black dye let the rag dry out for 24 hours and the saddle tan fry also after 24, rub the stick with the dried rag the residue will come off on the stick. Any improfection , gaps, holes will be highlighted rub ittill you get the effect you want coat with a wood floor arcrylic
