  1. Hello! I've been researching all the leather cutting options for a while now. So I am new at leathercrafting but I would like to find a way to make perfect cuts so I could make good products. I have very little space - 1.5x1.5 sq.m. and I need a little machine for that purpose. The options I researched are as follows: Laser To use a laser for cutting skin, it is necessary that the laser has a power of at least 10 watts. Mandatory should be added air assist to get less skin burns, encloser, as well as perfect ventilation. My space is easy open air area and I would not have problem with ventilating. Lasers that would work for me are the following: Wainlux K8 - That would be the best option due to size and portability. The big downside is the working area /130x130 mm maximum/; Longer Ray5 10 W - may the best option for me. Ortur LM3 Laser Ortur LM3 LE Laser Engraving & Cutting Machine Atomstack X12 Pro Atomstack P9 M50 xTool M1 10W - best quality. May be the first laser and also with blade for cutting. CNC with drag knife - looks good but very big and loudly. Not compatible for me. Cricut Maker 3 & Cameo 5 - both look amazing. They can cut leather but I don`t know. i would like to know your opinion about that those two. Sizzix - I find on amazon "superdant" store. There cutting dies for leather which work with sizzix - 1/2/3/4 . But that`s it. I don`t know if they can make it custom patterns and I have doubts for the quality. Clicker press - I think that would be the best option for me to buy low cost clicker press. I was looking that ones by vevor: 1/2/3 . I have problem with their weight - around 30-40 kg. I was looking for a smaller by zonesun like that ones: 1/2/3 - but I would by a machine for 120-200 $ and pay 200 $ shipping .... Arbor press - looks good for 50-100 $ I could buy an arbor press 1 or 2 tons. But than I have to order a base and the only good option I found is that one - link . The cost is 120 $ without taxes and shipping so no thanks. I would like to start with wallets and small stuff - no bigger than a medium bag. I try to cut by hand but the finish is not good enough for me. I don`t like it and got frustrated. I'm already seriously confused about which path to choose to start with. I ask for your opinion.
  2. By any chance does anyone have a have a two or 3 ton arbor press that you no longer need or use. Willing to pay fair market value An arbor press is a small hand-operated press. It is typically used to perform smaller jobs, such as staking, riveting, installing, configuring and removing bearings and other press fit work. Punches, inserters, or other tools/dies may be added to the end of the ram depending on the desired task. ALSO LOOKING FOR 2 6 by 6 inch 1/2 “ steel plates and 2 polymer plates also strong magnets
  3. This is a Harbor Freight Arbor press modified by a professional machine shop to accept Tandy dies. The ram and anvil were drilled out to accept Tandy dies, and a thumb screw was added to the ram to lock the top die in place. The anvil is spot welded (no longer turns) to hold proper alignment for the dies. In addition, it works incredibly well for 3D stamps, letter stamps, etc. I will include a metal plate you can place over the anvil for doing 3D stamping. I would put the leather on the metal plate, position the stamp, then put the plate on the anvil to stamp. With packaging shipping weight will be around 40Lbs. Price will be $100 + shipping costs. Shipping costs will be roughly $25 for 5-7 days USPS or USPS Priority Mail is 2-3 days and would cost around $40. Will only ship to the United States. Message me with any questions. Thanks! arbor press-compressed.pdf arbor with dies-compressed.pdf arbor press ram-compressed.pdf
  4. Received an Email from Grizzly. Was paging through the add and came across this small press. Would it be useful in leather crafting? http://www.leevalley.com/us/home/page.aspx?p=77025&cat=900132&ap=1
  5. Weaver 4-ton clicker press for sale. 4 years old, but the parts that make it go up and down are maybe 1.5 years old. Will post photos in the morning. These are $1450 new. Asking 1,000 plus shipping. Shows some use, but it works as good as the day I bought it. Local pickup available in Nashville, TN.
  6. Hello all, Forgive me if this has been covered. I am sure it has been at some point. I am having some brass stamps made so I can do some hot stamping. I currently stamp my makers mark and some requested stamping patterns with a shop press. I am wanting to use an arbor press for accuracy in layout. I plan on buying something inexpensive and having a machine shop bore out the arbor for an insert. My question is does anyone known the thread size and pitch of the most commonly available dies for setting snaps/rivets etc. The insert I have made will be threaded as appropriate and I also want to advise my brass stamp maker on what size rod to make fit the brass stamps. If I am thinking right, the rod that the brass stamps thread onto could be the same size as the insert that will go into the bored hold and fasten with a set screw. The same bored hole will accept the insert that is tapped for the snap setting dies. Clear as mud? Any help you might offer is greatly appreciated as well as a source for good quality snap setter dies. I know Tandy sells them but non sure if they are worth buying or if there is a better option. Thanks in advance, Scott
  7. I have a whole lot of dies for setting rivets, stamps and other tools that I have collected over the years. All of them are hand held. Now I'm thinking of getting a small arbor press for some of that work. I would like to mount the dies I have in the arbor press. Several of the dies are hand made for custom projects and it would be good to use them in the future. Have anyone any idea how to do that? I'm guessing some kind of chuck and somehow attaching that to the press?
  8. Hey guys, so I finally gave in and figured I'd better get one of those fancy presses for my stamping. Now, which one do i get? I am pretty set on 1ton press, but most of them seem little toys. Any recommendations? Much appreciated! M.
  9. Hello, I am trying to find some info about a customized alphabet set that I can use to stamp with an arbor press. I really want to be able to put initials on my leather but cant find where to get the whole set up - I want a hand press, not a burning iron. Any ideas who makes these things and are these alphabet sets usable with arbor presses? Thank you! M.
  10. Hello All, I decided to join based on great tips i've been getting from this site but i've coming across a re- accuring problem as a Leatherworker specific on Leather bags and i use Chrome Tan Leather. Since it is very difficult to stamp on these types of leathers what will work best when it comes to imprinting my logo onto the leather? Will Hot Foil Stamp work on Chrome Leather? Arbor Press? Or Should i simply find another way to attach my logo onto the bag(s). Please Help!
  11. I love the look of a round or mexican braid. However using a rotary punch kills my hands and wrists. I recently made a seat cover with a mexican braid and punched all the holes over the course of three days. I decided that I needed a better way. So I ordered five of the replacement rotary hole punches, then drilled and tapped a scrap hunk of aluminum to hold them. Now I can use my arbor press for the job. I just punched all the holes for a similar seat cover in an hour and boy, what a difference!
  12. Hello, everyone! I'm looking to do an equipment upgrade in the near future and I need a little guidance from those who have already taken this path... I currently set snaps, rivets, etc by hand (& hammer). Same thing with the Delrin makers mark that I've had since I started this little journey...I plan to upgrade to a metal one as part of this retooling. What do you suggest for a press-type machine that would handle those duties as an upgrade? Modified arbor press? I know the GoldStar press works with snaps and rivets...does anyone have experience using it with their makers mark? As always, the input and suggestions from this community is appreciated and helpful! Thanks in advance! Chris
  13. I know people have have used arbor presses when using embossing plates. Does any one have pictures of theirs and the modification made to make it work? I would love to see them! Any suggestions or ideas are grateful. Thank you
  14. I am looking for a small arbor press to use for hot stamping on small items. Most of the leather will be 2-4oz range. I was going to get the 1 ton Harbor Freight unit but reminded myself how I always regret buying cheap tools. I would appreciate it if someone could point me to a good US made 1-2 ton manual press that doesn't cost a fortune.
