Been a while since I posted any of my works.. Here is a wallet and keychain I've made for myself it was time to retire my prototype wallet made out of chestnut buttero. New wallet is EPI leather in navy color for the outside and inside is Alran sully in marine color. Stitching is black waxed linen thread at 3.38mm spacing done with French style pricking irons. Edges are sanded then burnished and sanded again with 3/4 coats or vernis edge paint in marine color. thanks for looking !!

Hello Everyone, Doing a little outreach here... I did just post this in another forum so I apologize for the cross posting... We run a tannery in New York's Hudson Valley named Pergamena Parchments & Leathers. We have been around for a very long time, tanning leather here in the US since around 1840, and going back to 1550 in Germany. We have produced many different kinds of leather throughout our history, but have been producing mainly vegtan for the last 10 years. We do cow hide, as well as goat and calf leather. We do a softer cow leather than Hermann Oak, or Wickett & Craig, but it might be suitable for some applications and we can offer it waxed, etc. I have also seen some of the goat and calf leather producers/sellers mentioned on here so I thought this might be the right place to mention that as well. We also do some deerskin. Again, all vegtan and all domestic hides, mostly from the Northeast US. We supply primarily the bookbinding trade, accessories, and handbags. Having some trouble picking leathers for durability. Obviously a thick cowhide leather is going to be stronger than a thin calfskin, but, unless you're dealing with a thickness that isn't available in calfskin, that doesn't really come into it. For leather clothing, shoes, most bags, etc., the thickness required is available in both calf and cow. Like-for-like (similar thickness and similar tannage), which one is going to be more durable - calfskin, or mature cowhide. For scuffing/abrasion? Splitting? Stretching? Cracking? Thanks

Hi folks, Just few of many updates for a last month. One of my favourite keyring so far is this cute 3D turtle. I was made of aniline goat skin in brown colour, hand drawn turtle shell and eyes, also a high gloss finish on the edge, to make it more female attractive. Also few bifold card holders were done. They are still quite popular due to gold calf skin lining, which looks just stunning. I am a fan of contrast stitching, but still have to complete orders with a monotone thread colour to match the colour of the skin. Shown bifold wallets are made of lizard, bull frog, and water snake skins. I was surprised with a bull frog skin. It is very thin, same as snake skin, but extremely durable. I will keep posting updates and pictures from my studio, just need a bit more time

Hi everyone, My name is Aleks and I am from London. Also Russian speaking Two months ago I decided to start practising in making leather goods. I do not make any big projects until I will be confident in all processes like pattern cutting, stitching and finishing edges. This is my last creature, a trolley coin keyring. Materials: black smooth calfskin, natural colour 18/3 Barbour thread and Fenice grey edge paint. Tools: Pro-Line diamond chisel 6spi (new Amy Rokes irons 8spi already ordered), soldering iron withbrass tip from aliexpress (need to order proper Regad Fileteuse with F2 tip), sand paper 400 grit. A nice slanted stitch using single knot and crease line was made using regular soldering iron. This project was made to test new way of stitching and new edge paint. Fenice is much betterthen Giardini. Almost ready to switch my direction to Leo Degarmo brand. Thank you
