  1. Guys & gals it's not much, but I wanted to share my dogs new collar. 5oz Conceria Walpier Whiskey Dollaro leather, lined with 5oz veg tan left naked. This was more of practice for me with my new cobra class 4 sewing machine. It turned out pretty good other than I did skip a stitch on the turn...
  2. Any good and or unique ideas as to what I can do with it? They're decent sized pieces, probably 5x8" on average. Thought I was getting some good scrap for practice carving but I screwed that up for myself

    IpodCase4

From the album: Practice Ipod cover

Two different colors I came up with mixing Fiebeng's dyes. Used machine thread on large phone case, Cambell Randal's waxed linen on the ipod cover. This was the first time I have used this thread, I liked it but I think maybe a bit large for such a small item. YinTx

    Front2

    From the album: Stitching Practice

Some comments suggested that my stitching was not at all straight, and the distance between holes was improperly gapped.. I thought I'd lay a ruler up against it to see how far off it really was. While not perfectly straight, I did use just a rolling overstitch wheel to mark the leather initially,...

    Back2

    From the album: Stitching Practice

This is the back side. It is not as straight, I believe due to differences in the angle of the awl as it went through the nearly 1/2" of (old and very hard) veg tan leather. I suspect practice will improve this result, as I hope to be able to be more consistent with the angle over time. This also...

    Front

    From the album: Stitching Practice

This is the front of my practice stitching. Leather is about 3/8" thick. Not getting the same lay on the front as on the back. Looking for suggestions to improve.

  9. I like to make little pouches for my small tools that come in sets. They come in little boxes, but I just don't like them, and making tool pouches gives me a chance to practice designing, and working on the skills I need to make things that need to be a little more polished.

  11. This is my second attempt at this logo and about the 4th piece that I have tooled. It is tons better than my first try. Now I'm trying to decide how to embellish it further. I have no particular plans for this, except to come up with a design to eventually use in a seat. http://leatherworker.net...

  14. A couple pics of two of my practice pannels. Its just cheap 3/4 oz. leather scrap so the impressions aren't going to be all that deep. But it is a start. Some of the leaves turned out ok but other than that I feel like its pretty aweful. I'm looking for some basic sheridan/floral patterns to pra...
  15. Hi guys, I know I have seen something on this subject a long time ago, but I can't find it anywhere. Is there another cheaper material that I could use to practice my swivel knife techniques on? I thought I saw something about using a sheet of wax, or something like that. Thanks All
