Looks good  . . .  I'm too conservative to ever wear that . . .  but there are customers who would stand in line for one like it.

And I'm sure if the sewing machine would do that on sport coat material . . . it would do it on light weight leather.

My first thought was ZZ Top.

But yes, what does that have to do with leather?

Boy, tough bunch on this. It's excellent work if that is your thing and should transfer easily to garment weight leather. I have to say though that I have never, ever, seen anyone wear something like that except the CW singers of yesteryear.

I would suggest applique over embroidery.  Lisa Sorrel has book entitled The Art of Leather Inlay and Overlay that you ought to check out is this is the direction you are thinking of going.
