Northmount Report post Posted March 11, 2017 Was this from a starter set from Tandy? If so, they are lower quality material than their regular line. Tandy will replace stamps that bend or fall apart or easily damaged through normal use. They replace starter kit stamps with their regular line according to other posts on the forum. Take it back. Wulfing Report post Posted March 11, 2017 In the uk Le prevo do some good quality stamps. The ones I brought from amazon for 15£ for a pack of 10 were awful..... The background shader wasnt sharp enough so just left a flat shape and the beveller was kind of smooth / nearly rounded so it didnt dig into the bottom of the cuts!! Infact I've pretty much thrown away all the cheap tools I started out with and got new ones that actually work! The sciver was just useless, the edge groover kept moving as it wouldnt tighten up, the cheap hole punches went blunt after 2 minutes lol I guess some of it was down to me being new and a lack of skill but it's so much easier when you're new if you have good tools. LumpenDoodle2 Report post Posted March 11, 2017 Call that a curve? I have a set of original cheap tools that I bought to start me off, and most of them have quite a jaunty curve to them. jphillipw Report post Posted March 16, 2017 These were the cheapo set on Amazon. They're my only tools that didn't come from Tandy. I'm not really into carving and stamping, but I wanted to mess around with it without have to invest a significant amount. I've gotten more into basket weave, and have bought higher quality tools from Tandy for stamping (basket, camo, and veiner). The barrels are actually larger and more comfortable. Or if you do not have a lathe a friend can make strap end punches in a few minutes for you. The cheapest ones I found were $65.00 each it took me about an hour to make 3.
