Moderator Wizcrafts Posted August 12, 2018 Moderator Report Posted August 12, 2018 I like how Patrick fitted the hand wheel from an old domestic Singer machine onto his industrial 188k. Not only did it have a bigger diameter - slowing the machine down a bit - but also has a release mechanism to wind bobbins on its built in bobbin winder, without driving the machine itself. The coat hanger to secure the reverse lever was interesting too. kgg Posted August 12, 2018 Report Posted August 12, 2018 What I liked most was the DIY sewing guide which I am going to make for my machine as I think it will provide additional help when sewing long wide items that start out dangling over the edge of the table. kgg Quote Juki DNU - 1541S, Juki DU - 1181N, Singer 29K - 71(1949), Chinese Patcher (Tinkers Delight), Warlock TSC-441, Techsew 2750 Pro, Consew DCS-S4 Skiver
Members DrmCa Posted August 12, 2018 Members Report Posted August 12, 2018 This is not really slowing down - this is better clutch control. FWIW ,The 188's come from the factory with that type of handwheel. This machine was made for tailor & dress shops for thin cloth material. The problem with the declutching system is any type of thickness & it'll slip.
