  3. Pictures are too small to see any detail. Resize the original pics to 800 pixels in the longest dimension and we should be good to go with lots of detail.
  4. All upholstery shops have walking foot machines. Every now and then they buy a new machine and retire an older one. Call around to any upholstery shops to see if or what they have available to sell. If a walking foot machine is still in good working condition, it may sell for between $500 and $800. Anything less means the machine is in questionable condition. A bonus of buying a used upholstery machine is that they seller knows how to thread, oil and adjust the machine. They can demo the machine for you, and may even teach you how to take care of it yourself. This is worth a lot of good karma, and will save you headaches down the road. A lot of new members on LWN ask basic operating questions because the bought a machine from somebody that didn't know anything about it, and couldn't demo or explain its operation. Another option is to try to locate an industrial sewing machines dealer near you, go there in person, and buy a new or used machine after getting hands-on instructions.
  5. Fixed it for you!

  7. Thanks kgg. I found her video this morning and it solved my problem. I did watch from the beginning.
  8. Here is a good threading video for the CB341 starting at about the 8:11 mark for the tension disc. You should really view it from the beginning just to cover off any other potential problems. kgg
  9. Thank you. I have an older C.S. Osborne round knife as well and love it. I got given a lot of tools when I first got started and I am just figuring out how to use all of them. Have you compared the maul to a Barry king? I currently have a Barry king maul and I love it although when I tool for extended periods it gets quite uncomfortable to hold.

    Louis Vuitton

I recently had someone request something with the Louis Vuitton inlay. Where are y’all getting yours?
  11. Tooling - Wayne Jueschke stamps and mauls, the mauls are ergonomic for me and the stamps are about as fine of an impression as you will find. Knives - I still go back to my Dozier knife. I have had knives from about everyone and I still will never part with the first Dozier. Bob Dozier no longer makes knives. Tooling bench - I have a granite inspection plate inlet into a bench I made. Solid support underneath. No bounce and the only noise is the soft "tink" of the maul striking the stamp.
  12. Apologies for my deplorable spelling in my response above. Skiver, skiving. 🙄

I can hear the OLD Mountain Dew jingle in my head ..... Good work!
  14. When you thread the lower disc you need to go past the little oval window @ the 10:00 position.
  15. I know nothing about this machine. But if I had to make a scientific wild assed guess, it would be this.
  16. I've been helping my best friend and ex-son-in-law this week, trying to get him an elk. Hopefully, I can get some rest soon. Ima getting tired lol. It's been in the teens at night and only in the 40s during the day, but no snow, just bitter cold winds. Any way your garden sounds like it's going pretty well. I don't have enough growing season here for peppers, sure wish I did, i have to start them indoors then hope they don't stunt when i replant them. I think i might be able to do some summer sausage this winter, we have a good supply of meat.😁 plus my daughter works at the local Walmart and get a heads up on markdowns so we get some low cost burger once in a while.
  17. I tried to follow the manual but the instructions suck.
  18. I would approach that with extreme caution ⚠️ PTO's can be dangerous. I have 3 vintage tractors,2 with pto pulleys ( and hard metal seats, and i end up with sore back and a sore a...se) Perhaps leave it well alone if it's still in tact and functional? But all the very best with the restoration , you're preserving history👍 HS
  19. i would leave it alone until i knew how to take it apart and do it correctly with the proper materials, and I doubt most leather workers know how to do that lol.. Those things were dangerous enough without unforeseen problems. and someone may use it at some point in time. Take your time on your awesome rebuild, it's a very cool project indeed.
  20. Thank you friquant, Constabulary & Wizcrafts for the help! Any recommendations for a newbie machine that is more available? I don't see any 111w155 for sale locally. I am looking to dabble in the trade a little bit to see if I like it and if I can make anything intersting.
  21. Your threading of the top thread around the tension discs is incorrect, refer to your manual for the correct threading. kgg
  22. I also have a Singer 107w in my shop. It is handy for jobs requiring a zig-zag stitch. It can sew with #69 bonded thread into 5-6 ounce chrome tanned shoe upper leather, like that tanned by S.B. Foot. But, that's not all it's good for. I also use the 107 to sew linings and cloth that would be eaten by my walking foot machines. To do this I move the stitch width selector on the back to zero throw. This places the needle on one side of the presser foot. I use the stitch length knob on the rear to get a longer stitch. The maximum throw is about 1/4 inch, or slightly wider. While this wouldn't be a first machine to buy for a leather shop, it would be a good addition. Your first machine should be a compound feed walking foot machine. An example is the out-of-production Singer 111w155.
  23. top and bottom picture show a Singer 107w ZigZag machine of some kind, it can sew garment leather. I have one, nice machine but not the best option for leather work. But the one shown has a lot of milage as it seems. I would not buy it as my main / first machine.
  24. if you are looking for small / narrow foot print feet then these feet here may be an option: https://leatherworker.net/forum/topic/132157-interesting-441-style-presser-feet-for-singer-111w-153w-and-similar-like-341-227r-and-so-forth/

Messing around with some scrap with Wildcat Hillbilly. Fun to do something whimsical.
