That's bullfrog. -
I'd buy you a beer.

It does look like hearts. I didn't plan to make a red one. I can see the color making the shapes pop out.

Thank You, Sir' You can buy what they call junk silver. Worn out silver coins. They're sold by the bag. Back when-when. Conchos were silver. Real silver. Then they went silver plated brass. There's no way I'm installing plated, pot metal cast on my own personal stuff. Ugh, No way.

The billets are dark chocolate. The main strap is saddle tan. The buckle is rust brown. Brass and copper. Bright nickel conchos will look like tiny hubcaps with the color combo. Hence, that's why I needed them dark.

Decoration. Domed quarters are a good size on a 1.5" wide belt. Not too big and not too small. I recently ordered some Berry conchos off of Esty. Tourist grade casted pot metal. They broke me from ordering from Esty. I don't have my older examples but I've put a twisted wire border on domed Mexican coins. One I soldered to a brass Zippo. Given to my son. One of my best conchos. The others are lost to time (ex-wife got a ranger belt. Steel buckle, conchos. Fifth wedding anniversary. Top grade craftsmanship) These conchos really need a border. But that's heavy duty. Soldering to where you can't see the solder is a trick. These conchos are going on my belt. Let me take a picture of the buckle. Then you'll see why I needed them antique. Brb...

I like the checkering. Reminds me of a gun stock. Nice Job!

We are going off your picture. I wouldn't even have those bags inside my house. We've given you many options for cleaning them. Have you cleaned them?
-
Dip wax them. Plant some flowers in the bags. Like ladies do with old boots. Hang them up on the porch.

Pre-Cut Leathers or Full Sides (Or Hides)

Nobody but nobody uses a full name as a screen name. Listing a website that sells cheap Chinese leather used for counterfeit goods. -
Thank You. I can see that as a proper name for it. Blood knot.

I don't know the name. It's basically cutting slots in a strap and braiding the rear strap through the front. I used 3/4" wide end nippers from harbor freight to cut the slots. 10" end nippers (?). This is Horween cavalier in 4.5/5oz cut at 3/4", using a regular old strap cutter. Works pretty good on chrome. At least on 5 ounce Horween. On the dollar coin. That's James Madison.

Oh No. This will be #4 in life. Hand saddle stitching 90" of main strap. Both billets. Then sewing the billets on. All total it's an estimated 20+ labor hours. The main strap took 12. I have a hand made three piece buckle set I made years ago in a funky non standard size. 11/16's. The buckle has been waiting on a belt. It's a steel buckle with a twisted wire border of brass and copper. With a branding on front, brass. It's been in a box. I need to stitch the tongue billet. The buckle billet is done.

I have a ranger belt to complete. I completely understand.

Here's some red Horween. Didn't want to waste a dollar coin. This is going on the household Bic lighter I use to light the lanterns on the patio.

Here's what a national park quarter looks like. The machined Chicago screws work just fine. I only needed 4 conchos at this time.

Here's a keyring dohicky I recently made. Needed something to help me from losing my keys. I don't get it. It's just a braided latigo strap from Tractor Supply Company. It sure does catch people's eyes. I get lots of compliments. This was a 15min project. End nippers and a ring.

I had some lace up Redwing boots that got infected. They were my secondary boots I barely wore because they were black. I don't remember if they got wet or what. I treated them as dress boots. These were very expensive items. It's the smell. The smell that will never go away. No matter what you do. It's quite embarrassing to pull off your boots and they stink up the entire room. The only pair of boots in my entire life that took a moldy smell. Imagine what those saddle bags smell like.

Humans having been fighting mold for centuries. Y'all know, once it starts, it's a fight to kill it. In all our wisdom. Mold has become even more resistant to treatments. Stop beating around the bush. Dunk the saddle bags in bleach. Only problem is the damage the leather is going to take. The #1 problem here is those saddle bags were not taken care of to begin with. They were not stored properly or some individual just had to wipe them down with something that went rancid. I'm still of the personal agreement... Those saddle bags are done. It's an infection. An infection that can only be cured with fire or dirt. Because the time and money spent on it. You could buy a new one.

I'm seeing 7 pieces. 3 major panels. 2 decorative panels and two handles. Basketball leather with a suede liner. I'd assemble something similar with craft foam sheets. Then you can use the foam pieces as a pattern. Reverse engineer it. As for a ready made pattern. No idea where you could get one. For all I know, that's custom. Only one exists. If it's a commercial ready made product in bulk. Compare the cost of buying it. Ripping the stitches and using it for a pattern. Unless that's some $2000 dollar purse. Good Luck

I ordered two different sets of Chicago screws. Two different lengths. These Chicago screws looked machined and not pressed out. The pressed out have a rounded face on the head. The machined have a flat face with a step. They will work but I might have to shape the heads for a better fit. Might not have to. I'm probably going to test one after it's soldered. If I can't remove the Chicago screw beating it with a hammer. There will be no worries about a concho falling apart.
