  1. Tom i belive you will need to get a guide made for your machine. I don't think you will be able to buy just any guide and have it work on your machine because they all fit different. But their may be a few that will interchange.
  2. Thumper i got mine from Enco http://www.use-enco.com/CGI/INSRIT?PMAKA=640-0120&PMPXNO=949402&PARTPG=INLMK3 . When i got mine they had free shipping and may still have it, i didn't check. But the price is right.
  3. If your going to sew by hand i would get 6 cord linen waxed or unwaxed. You can wax it your self if you want to.
  4. Latigo or indian tan about a 1/4 wide works good for tying the water loop. the string will break most times before your reins incase a horse steps on them. Cut both ends to a point. It makes them alot easier to get through the holes. To tie you need to start just like you tie you shoes but take a extra turn or two crosses with the lace instead of one and you have a knot, pull it tight and you have a knot that won't come undone and it's easy to get undonel if you need to.
  5. Tom here's a picture of a rein with a water loop on it. Forgot to say earlier i use resolene for a finish on the reins. Neats foot oil is what i use.
  6. It depends on the kind of reins you want to make. If you want to make split reins with a water loop make sure their at least 7 foot long. The cut the width you want. Then edge them, dampen them and rub them up let dry and oil. The water loops need to be about 11 inches long with ties 12 to 14 inches long. Punch two holes in the water loop and two in the reins tie the loops on and your done. I make roping / one reins 8 foot long generally with a snap on one end and a conway buckle on the other end to adjust with.
  7. Theirs not anyway to get dye off that i know of. Maybe somebody else knows some kind of trick to get it off.
  8. Ron Edwards whip making book is for sale on Amazon. I typed on how to make a whip, how to make a bull whip and whip making for ma on Google and found quite a few things. Here's one of them http://www.em-brand-whips.com/bulltutorial.htm .
  9. You might be able to get the glue off with a eraser. I have a couple of times.
  10. If the seller is close enough drive over and try it out. It looks like it is probley made by a knife maker because most companies don't use a full tang blade and handle. If it real Damascus i don't know. The real Damascus takes alot of work to make. Ask the seller if you can return it if you don't like in a reasonable time if you have to order it. $75.00 is pretty cheap for a hand made knife i think.
  11. I've never seen or used a Damascus bladed knife so i can say anything about that. Never have used a knife with a finger hole either. My finger is down by the side of the blade when i cut.
  12. Nice job.
  13. The biggest thing is a really sharp knife. But the again i have got some leather from different companies domestic and import that is just really hard to cut even with a sharp knife. Depending on the thickness of the leather it may take more than one pass to get it cut all the way through.
  14. I use a head or round knife to cut them out. Make your patterns out of poster board or something along those lines.

    Lousy Service

I have ordered from Siegel probely a 100 times over the years. One time their was a mix up but they fixed it really quick. Every time i have called i've been treated very nice. Never had a problem ordering online either. One mix in a 100 orders is pretty durn good in my book. After all were human and not perfect every minute of every day, or i'm not.
  16. Money has been sent. I added enough for Priority Mail shipping. You should get a email from paypal in a couple of minutes. John
  17. I'll send you the money right now. You should have it in your account in a few minutes.
  18. I'll take them. Do you take paypal ?
  19. No pictures. You can them to my email at westkytack@yahoo.com if you want to try that.
  20. You can buy a round punch and grind it off till you get the size you want. Or you might take a piece of pipe and grind to the size you and then sharpen it up. The pipe would take longer but it should be alot cheaper. I think that's what biggundoctor was talking about.
  21. Well i may be wrong but it sure looks like a wood tree in the first picture with a ralide ground seat / strainer plate. The tree looks like one that was covered with that cheese cloth that was used on lots of the older saddles. A clear picture by the orignal poster would solve that question.
  22. Do you have any pictures ? Mast had several several different feet made for the machine. I am intrested.
  23. I've fixed a few trees that were broke like yours. Take the skirt off and tie that corner of the seat back. Then put 2 or 3 tacks little nails above the break on both sides. Glue the tree and the broken piece with Elmers or something like that. Loop a couple of rubber bands around the nails. Set the broken piece back where it belongs and pull the rubber bands on the front set of nails till their tight. Leave it for a day or two. After it drys pull the nails and fiberglass both sides of the tree where it was broke with fiberglass cloth. Let that dry and put it back togeather.
