  1. You could try spraying the mask with saddle lac or something that to seal the leather and then paint. That might work. I never have tried it though.
  2. I haven't made to many of them but when i put them the stirrups i use the bolt on the top of the stirrup and either drill 2 holes in the stirrup and tap then run a string through both holes and tie a bleed knot. On a couple i have run a string around the stirrup and then through the holes in the tap and tied a bleed knot. Oh i put concho's on the out sides of the taps.
  3. Type rope tool in the search box and you should find what your looking for.
  4. Put a file folder or poster board between your leather and the board. That should stop the pattern transfuring on to your leather from the board.
  5. I use a whetstone but i guess you use a file or sand paper and then strop it. Check on you tube for movies their might be some on there.
  6. Your more than welcome. I hope it works for you and your able to trouble shoot your machine.
  7. I'm not sure if this the right manual or not http://www.sewingmanuals.com/Sewing_Machine_Manuals/Adler.htm . It's about half way down the page and cost 14.00 .
  8. Hicks i don't have a holster plate and never have had a problem using the plate that came on my machine a Pro 2000. The only plate that i have seen made for any of the machines that is really needed is a sturipp plate and only if your sewing a lot of sturipps.
  9. Looks to me like you spending money and time on something that could be avoided if you used a pencil or a awl. JMO I'm don't know what brand of dye he used or how many coats. He didn't lay on the ink pen just made a mark. Have you ever held your holster under a light to see if you can see the marks ?
  10. I use a pencil or scratch awl on the front. If you use a ink pen and get the line in the wrong place it's there !! You can dye it but you can still see the line. I had a guy bring a holster in that he wanted sewed. It was dyed black and asked him why he used a ink pen to mark the pattern and he told me you couldn't see after it was dyed. Then i showed him the ink pen line. You can see it no matter if it's dyed or not.
  11. Nice job on the seat. I hope he has a fender on his bike because i think he will be setting on it when he slides out of the seat.
  12. If you talking what i always heard called a "Navajo" a wool blanket/pad that is folded in half. I have done several of them and as far as i know they never came off or tore through. When i did them i just glued the leather on and sewed.
  13. I wouldn't call it a documentary film. It was guy making a guitar strap. But maybe i missed something.
  14. Just a guess because i never have tried it but i think a 2 part epoxy or JB Weld should work. I have used both things to glue different types of materials togeather and they worked fine for me. But i would try it on some scrap and a rock you pick up first.
  15. I think i would get a Dodge desiel. 4 wheel drive would be a bonus and sure is handy when ya need it.
  16. Nice job on all of the pouches. The collar with the dragon is really nice and is my favorite !!! John
  17. Tina you sure have a nice place to work. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your great work. John
  18. You could try some cut flooring nails. Their sort of square to start with the driving end is fat and tapers down. When started doing carpenter work back before Hilti guns and the anchors they have now we used them for concrete and they would work pretty good. Only thing is their pretty hard.
  19. Nice seats. I really like the dragon.
  20. Bob you forgot " Once up on a time " for the opening . All kidding aside i would buy your book. I love learning new things.
  21. I never have made any rawhide. But i seen it made in a movie about braiding and that guy cleaned, streached and dried the hide then laid the hide over a pole and scraped the hair off.
  22. Clamp it between two pieces of wood cut on a 45 degree angle and file away. That should work for the fat part. The end you could probley work that down on a stone or you could work the whole thing down on a stone.
  23. Looks like you did a fine job to me.
  24. My for sure way is make a pattern and add to it or take off depending on the persons size with the customer in my shop. The only other i can figure the others do is to keep the holster in the same place no matter the length and add or take off of the other end. Or they get the waist size and add a couple of inches. You will have a couple of inches in length to play with depending how far you let belt run past when it's put on. Not sure what they would do a double gun holster. JMO and it aint worth much.
