  1. I use white cutting boards like you can buy at Wal Mart an never had a problem. Sounds like you had junk punch. Some where i have a hard cutting board lots harder than the ones i have now and i have never messed a punch up. The problem with using leather and poundo boards are you can punch right through them and mess your tool up or your bench IMO and it aint worth much.
  2. If you have pure neetsfoot oil it needs to be warm ( not hot ) to turn it to a liquid espically if it's cold. Neetsfoot compound works fine right out of the jug. You can for sure over oil something. I have seen several saddles ruined from over oiling. Plus it will get all over everthing it touches and leave a oil spot.
  3. The one on the right is used in boot making. I can't remember what it's used for though.
  4. The rivets are same except the double cap is finished on both sides. I think if ones stronger it would be the double cap. But i could be very wrong to.
  5. I have took all the sticihes out and resewed before, when it didn't look to suit me. So i feel your pain. I want what i make to be the best i can make period ! But i have had a couple of pices that had a spot that wouldn't take dye. I sold them in person and showed them the spot and took some money off if they wanted it. I think from now i am going to mark them with a 2 to show that their seconds. Not good enough to sell as a number one but to good to cut up and trash and i have cut some up to.
  6. Nice seats ! I like the first one the best. The West Coast Chopper seat looks a little whopper jawed on the right side at the bottom, but it might just be the way the camera was held or the angle of the picture was took from.
  7. Your welcome.
  8. Campbell Randall has the thread your looking for. http://www.campbell-bosworth.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/6_71_73/products_id/1290?osCsid=6funrp8ns28q5o8mgjeut4ef76
  9. It looks like some kind of weird metal baby bird. It's a clamp of some kind i think. You move the weight for more holding power i guess. Not sure what it was / is used for outside of a clamp. But you have that already figured out i guess.
  10. That is the nicest mask i have ever seen. The colors are great and i really like the way you blended them where their are two different colors. Only thing i see wrong with it is that you need more pictures.
  11. Nice job on the seat !! That's the first time i have ever seen a seat done that way and i like it.
  12. That's just pretty durn neat. Nice job to !!
  13. You might want to check with a game warden if you haven't already about the size magazine you can have to hunt with. In Kentucky it's a five round magazine i think and i figure that's close to the limit nation wide. But i could be very wrong.
  14. I made a pouch out of hair on deer skin one time and the hair will get in your clothes and itch you to death when you cut it. The hair is kinda stiff even though it doesn't feel that way. If i was going to use deer i would use just skin no hair. It looks to me like any good soft tanned leather would be fine for the lining as long as it's not thick. Good luck on your project.
  15. Check books, key fobs and belts are pretty quick to do and useful. I'm sure there lots more things that i can't think off right off the bat.
  16. It will hold up fine. I have a piece i have used for around 20 years and it hasn't broke yet.
  17. Spiders don't bother me as long as i can see them. But i got bit by one this fall that i didn't see. I was lucky i guess and it didn't get a good bite but around where i was bit the skin got really hard then puffed up and come off. There was a bump under the skin for a few weeks afterwards. I know a couple of people that were biten and they had all kinds of problems with the bite healing up. Be careful when you see one and shake your shoes and clothes out espically if haven't wore them in a while.
  18. Mighty fine job on your seat !! All of the colors really go togeather . Wish i could say that i had made it . I bet you will get more seat orders if you haven't already.
  19. Real nice job on it ! Some body's going to very happy !
  20. Great start ! The leaves and flowers are my favorites to.
  21. You could make a pattern pretty easy i think. Cut a piece of poster board the width you want them. Draw a center line. Then draw a circle and and come off of it like in the picture. Draw a diamond and do the same thing. Cut both out. Line them up ( 2 or 3 of each ) spacing to where it suits you on a seperate piece and cut that out. Then cut a piece of poster board the width you want mark a center line on it. Line center lines up and mark then move and mark again till your done.
  22. Really nice work Tom !! Their both great looking and i bet you get some more orders straps.
  23. I can't afford it first off. But do you have a picture showing how it works because i can't make heads or tails out how it works.
  24. Well i know my spelling or writeing isn't very good. Is their a spell check on here ? If their is where is it ? I rolled my mouse over button this page i think and i can't find it if their is one. Plus lots of times i write like i talk..LOL.
