To cover a horn and sew all the way around it.Start byu finding the center of your horn cap,Mark it there with a scratch awl.Mark the center and figure out the stitch line(diamiter of horn).Allow 1/2 " larger,cover the belly,put in your stiffiner,and glue your capon..Make up your wing piece and glue to to bottom of your belly piece,sew the horn all the way around and wrap your wings around the neck.Trim the cap down to where you want edge and rub

Joe,I have been using Triple C skirting for the past 10 years are so.I like it real well,tools good and seams to hold up well.I am like Shelly and order 15-17 oz.The HO and Wiggett & Craig are good leathers also,the price difference between then and Triple C is about $30 a side on the roll price. Joanne,The buckles are accually called superior Stirrup leather Buckles.When they were first made thet called them Kreer buckles.I will see if i have a picture of them,and if i do I will post them

Bruce,The rope strap is just under the Rossett,pinned and screwed down.Yhe strings are 3/8s

I used Kregers Troy.Thats about all I use on Cowboy saddles,except I lace a few.On rope saddles & Show saddles I will use Brass Blevins.

Cost of materials for a saddle

Denise, it costs around 1200 for materials to build a saddle ,Thats making a ring rigged saddle.Add another side of skirting for a Flate plate or skirt rigged saddle and it goes up to 1400. Steve -
