  1. I thought i'd give it a try and it's either a bullet hole or a blob. The only tools used were a modeling spoon and the other end of a background tool Sorry about the quality of the pic, it's from my cell phone. Moe
  2. That is a great portfolio, the detail is awesome, I wish I could do a basket weave like that. Moe
  3. That is some very nice and original work! Moe
  4. Hi Skald, gum tragacanth works very well for slicking down the flesh side and for doing edges, but if you bend the leather some cracking will sometimes show up. If you want to test it, just go to a store that sells cake making supplies. It's used for stiffening up the icing on cakes (I'm having second thoughts about eating cake now) It can be bought in powder form, so no problem with the freezing. Supplier in the UK Moe
  5. Very nice, that will be one happy customer. Moe
  6. Hi all, has anyone ever made latigo leather? From what I have been able to find out, the oils and waxes are pressed into the leather and not just soaked in. That's all I've been able to find out about it. What kind of oils and waxes are used? Is it done from rawhide? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks, Moe.
  7. Have you checked with all of the leather suppliers at the bottom of this page?Leather suppliers It seems to me that one of them should know what leather to use and who makes it. Moe

    Inuit Design

Hi Tatehunt, just for your info, what you have there is west coast first nations art. It has elements of the north and mid coast traditions. (formline, ovoids, U and S shapes) Sometimes it crops up in Inuit circles but that is because it was more than likely traded for, or they learned it from a west coast first nations artist. If you do a google search for Inuit art you'll see that it is quite different and they do a lot of stone sculptures. Good piece of work, Moe.
  14. Hi all, I was given a can of neat lac, but it looks to be at least 10 years old or more. Does anyone know if it's still good? On the can is says the Tandy leather company, how long ago was that before they changed over to TLF? Anyways, I've never used this stuff so I'm not sure what the best purpose for it is. Thanks in advance, Moe.
  15. That is a fantastic piece of work, I really like the way you did the insides, thanks for sharing. Moe
  16. Is this what you're looking for? elastic Moe
  17. Hi Gawdzilla, I use scrap aluminum tail pipe 3 to 4 inches in diameter, from any shop. Just file the outside edge, use a piece of wood on top with a metal hammer. This way the leather doesn't have to be wet. Moe
  18. I would be interested in that too. It's no fun having to pick those flakes off of a project. Moe
  19. Great video, 9 min on the air that is fantastic. The buckelless ?? belt is very cool. Good luck at the new location. Moe
  20. That is a great looking pattern, Moe.
  21. Thanks for the pattern Gunter, I've been wanting to make some for a while. Moe
  22. When I started out I had to improvise a lot and ended up using clear packing tape over the picture and a pencil to trace over it. You can control the width of the lines by sharpening or dulling the lead point. Works great and the pic can be used over quite a few times. Moe
  23. That is an awesome piece of work. Moe
  24. Those two lighter covers are really nice, you've given me some new ideas to work with. Thanks, Moe
