  1. Aurelie, No it is not a special order, I just got the idea the other day while at that sewing store I purchased the handbag handle at. When the sales lady said "you'll need to buy a pattern now" somehow triggered something, and off my mind went....lol The "Rainbow" is something I have only done once before using lace, and it is the one thing that I have always said since then that "I cannot do", but now....it's going to be, "Of course I can do that" whenever someone asks....
  2. The legendary NATO strap was based on the British Ministry of Defense Standard 66-47. The NATO strap is intended to be made of "straight cross weave nylon ribbon, free from additives which may act as an irritant to the wrist under humid or extreme conditions". NATO Straps have an additional strap that slides through the 2 lugs, so you have 2 straps of nylon under the watch, instead of one. ZULU (3-Ring) Straps have only 1 long strap, made of thicker nylon cloth, and have thicker beefier buckles. ZULU (5-Ring) Straps is similar to NATO Straps, except it is made of thicker nylon cloth, and have thicker buckles. As far as hardware goes, it seems that there are thousands of people on the net searching for a place to buy it, to no avail. Every site I have checked, the people say that they just buy the cheapest NATO strap, and harvest the hardware. The hardware you show in the picture is what is called "Black PVD Hardware" and I can't seem to find any suppliers for this either.... Good Luck
  3. Thanks rdb, this next one "The Cobra Under the Rainbow" is going to be a cool looking one, well as far as being a man can tell...
  4. Thanks Aurelie, it's not my type either...lol, I'm working on another one right now that I think is going to be a good seller, I'm going to call it "The Cobra Under the Rainbow"
  5. Jump on in Aurelie, the waters fine and the sharks have all gone South for the winter.....
  6. hunio, again you have created a perfect piece. You do fantastic work.
  7. Aurelie. Very nice craftsmanship on this, I'm glad you decided to say "Yes I can do that". Now you have another happy customer that is going to tell people about you. Great job.
  8. Here's one of the vests that he airbrushed for me using that stuff.
  9. PNgo12, Here's a link to the paint he uses. http://www.createxcolors.com/product/airbrushcolors/main.html
  10. Exception work Kevin, the sewing is spot on. I love that Toxic Green Lizard, can you indulge me as to where you got it from?
  11. Dwight, I should be seeing him at the shop on Saturday, I will ask him the name brand and let you know. Maybe send me a reminder Friday night incase my old brain has a memory lapse.
  12. I've never had a problem with Tandy's lambskin hides, as I shop in person I can pick and choose which ones I want. As far as I know they are full hides, always about 7 to 9 sq. ft. The selection varies from each time I go, sometimes there is oodles of different colors, other times just a few, most likely from not going before others get there.
  13. Very nice looking holster trekster, if Canada had a Second Amendment, I could see getting into making holsters. Keep up the good work.
  14. I would think that it's some sort of paint such as screen printing, the ad does say "printed" so screen printing is most likely how it was done. I've had a couple of my vests airbrushed by a friend, he uses some sort of paint that reacts to heat after it's been painted. He airbrushes it, then uses an iron to activate and seal it to the leather. It's been on there for about 1.5 years now, and still no wearing off.
  15. Very nicely done Chris. I actually tried that "Flesh Out" lacing with some roo lace yesterday, and I must say, I like it.
  16. Greystone, Yes, step outside the box, once you have you'll never be stuck in there again.
  17. I use a lot of Garment Lambskin, I buy most of it at Tandy actually. There is another place here in Calgary that also sells it, but they don't always have a good selection.
  18. I registered yesterday so I could see prices, got my confirmation today, and the prices are actually very good. Shipping may be a bit expensive though.
  19. As a sandblaster in the real world, I know what you mean about the middle finger wearing out, it is a pain. Myself, I just purchase packs of welding gloves at a discounted price about $4.00 a pair. If you have the leather, time and materials, I see no reason as to why you couldn't just sew a patch on, but this may make the middle finger a bit uncomfortable, kinds like putting duct tape on it until the end of the day.
  20. Glad you found the place Emilie, hope you get settled in all right. There are lots and lots of friendly helpful people here that are more than willing to help you along.
  21. Thanks Spin, glad you like it. I am meaning to take it with me and show the lady next time I'm out on a shopping spree. Hopefully the store will be full of ladies.
  22. Thank you sir, I shall check them out.
  23. Here's a handbag/purse I just finished for inventory. It is made from Garment Lambskin with Ostrich Leg inlay that wraps around to the other side. The inside is also Garment Lambskin with a single pocket. It's more of an evening purse, that a regular day in day out version. Funny thing about this purse... I had stopped at a fabric store to check things out. I noticed a purse on the rack with this handle on it. The handles for sale were only silver and gold ones, so I asked the sales lady if it was possible to exchange out the black one for a silver one. She found another black one, then said to me, "Your going to need to buy the pattern for the purse now". I told her it was alright, as I will make my own pattern. She looked at me like I was some crazy old man, and walked away... Let me know what you all think of this one...thanks
  24. Rumblestiltskin, I just checked out this site, most of it is the same as Tandy sells here in N. America, but they do have some real cool conchos shaped like all sorts of dogs. Those would really help the sale when making dog collars. Thanks for posting.
  25. Doh.... Kevin, FedEx Overnight....send him the grommet and a setting tool, along with instructions.
