And to add to what Ray says with the embossing press there is no Bounce or double images as to pounding the stamp with a Mallet or Maul.

new hobby.......make a trip to your local tandy store, have a look around and ask questions! you will see a lot of beginner items that you should be able to use your scraps on. dont forget to browse the books for patterns.

David.... you are not going to be able to do any tooling on the jacket. I beleive the jacket to be of chrom tan leather..... not toolable. If he wants some toolong you would have to tool the veg tan then sew it on the jacket.

machines.... $600.00 delivered would be about right. He is making $$$$$$ on the sale. But be sure that the machines will sew well and try sewing with #138 thread on the top. if he is at your house showing you what the machines can do then this is a plus. either one of the machines will be great for lite weight to medium weight leather. be sure to ask him for leather needles.
