Mexican Loop Style Knife Sheaths

Here's a picture of them prior to finishing the assembly. It helps give an idea of how they go together. Have a good day, Josh -
Mexican Loop Style Knife Sheaths
Josh Ashman replied to Josh Ashman's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Thanks again! Kevin, The skirt is friction fit onto the sheath. It's tight enough that you'd have a hard time getting it to pull out if you were trying. The sheath portion is made with a welt so although the knives are snug they pull out pretty easy. Between the two I decided not to bother with tying the skirt to the sheath. On a similar styled holster I do tie them through the back with a 1/2" saddle string through slots tied with a bleed knot. Since my holsters are made to fit very snug that keeps the pouch part from wanting to pull out of the skirt part when drawing. Kind of a long answer for a short question ! Best regards, Josh -

Remake A F.a. Meanea Saddle?
Josh Ashman replied to Spartan's topic in Saddle Supplies, Tools & Trees
Oldtimer makes an outstanding period correct saddle, as do several others on this site. Here is a link that shows some off and discusses it a little bit http://leatherworker...les#entry145974 Best regards, Josh -
I don't have a very good picture but this sort of shows them.

Yup, there is a difference. Tug straps go through the skirt (not the sheepskin) and tack, nail or screw to the tree, they do not go through the front, seat or back jockys. Strings may or may not go through the tree and skirts but they do go through (or come out, depending on your view point) of the jockys. Stohlman shows one set of tugs at the front of the tree and two sets in the back per side. That's what I do and it has worked well for me. Best regards, Josh

Charcoal Grey Color

You might get close by using Fiebings liquid antique black and giving it a good wipe down with a damp rag after applying. Good luck, Josh -
tug straps can also be used at the front of the tree. They could also be used at the back if you were going to have back jockys.

Looks really good to me Craig, great job! Josh -
Thanks again guys, I'm very happy with how it turned out too. My mag pouch design needs improvement because they are a bear to sew together the way I made these but other than that I feel good about it. St8Line, that is Craftool D445. I'm sure there are better stamp makers that have the same basic stamp but I've been happy enough with the Craftool one. Best regards, Josh
