  1. looks good luke. i like the smuges
  2. LOL!! ~get er dun!!
  3. thanks clay! the under cuts are done wiht a tool i made. i really like that background tool also. i don't have much use for it most times and could have been a bit smoother with it but, didn't take the time to do so. hopefully i have a chance to give it another shot before the end of the month i didn't do it this time (or i would have evened up my back grounding) but generally do when i'm about done tooling to see what needs attention. sure is a great tool and helps me to improve what i'm doing
  4. looks like you can get away with it on that p-pad. i always leave myself a good 2" - 3" around the parimeter just to be safe.
  5. deffinaitly flows better bruce! i may give it another shot if i have some time but, need to invest in a couple tools i don't have a thumb print for one
  6. popped this one out this eve.
  7. i think if i had a flat sided cam and a better understanding of what i was doing it could be done without a problem. i also could have gone back with my hair tool and added some more ramdom hairing. i kinda liked the way the hair flowed around the eyes and mouth. i guess i would need to study some cat pics to do much better
  8. well.... i guess i need to pull another hunk of scrap out of the pile and see what i can do. should be intersting! nice work pete!
  9. i was looking for pics. i know i took some other shots but, can't find them. that is a skirt and it's just lace to the side of the seat
  10. no but, i have.... there are guys out there that just make pans so i'ed rather not. i do have some metal fabrication skills including machining and welding. 99% are customer supplied. i buy solo pans from a guy i have been dealing with for some time
  11. this was my first attempt at this sort of figure carving including this amount of complex hairing and embossing. i pulled out my AS figure carving book for the cam idea. one of those flat sidded cams would have made it quite a bit easier
  12. i use rivets in plastic pans. they don't expand.. they pull down
  13. yes, it's embossed a bit. hairing was done with a couple different Camouflage stamps i have. the head is also done but, with a finer tool for finer hair. i guess i need to take a couple more pics and see if i can get the embossing and hairing to show up
  14. i wasn't afraid of anything. they are not on the pattern and didn't feel the wiskers were needed
  15. and why would wrap the side and then lace the top?? go ahead and lace the top to the side then tool the side an install it while still wet from tooling. you are better of using pop rivets over staples. the way veg tan leather shrinks the staples are not the way i would go
  16. why don't you tool it and then stretch it without rewetting? if needed add a bit moisture to the bottom where it wraps around
  17. sorry ... i just saw this. i don't recall the exact colors but, i think it was buckskin to saddle tan to black. they are fiebings pro oil dyes. i do all my fading with an airbrush. tank bibs can be about any thickness. it really depends on what you want. i have only done a couple and used 5-6oz. i think i used some highlighter on it also
  18. well... ups didn't get here with my next seat project so i spent a couple hours and came up with this. donno if i'll add any color or not
  19. ditto! 640 x 480 works best
  20. thanks again for all the comments!! here she is....
  21. i'm sure no one minds! good looking stuff, well finished. nice looking wallet
  22. not bad!! i have one of those to cover some time soon
  23. thanks steve! yea... once you spensd some time creating then dye it black you realize work work dissapears thanks grumpy! you able to pick up the tools yet? thanks!! yea.. the site is coming along. My initials Roger M. Harris BTW.. i have the seat put together and hope it dries to where i can get it dyed. i'll post some pics later if i get it done
