  2. well... after being rather slow for the past few months for some reason thngs are picking up again. normally things get slow this time of year for a couple months but, i am now booked up for at least the next seven weeks for a seat a week!! 2.5 hours of tooling tonight.
  3. i would think it would vary from person to person depending on speed. i would figure out how long it takes to do inches or a foot and charge by the hour
  4. thanks rayban! still working on the new site but it's coming along. i started with the pattern tandy offers.
  5. nice wrist band! be sure to hold your bevel straight and don't move it so far between hits and it will smooth out for you
  6. thanks skip! i have been using an airbrush for quite some time to fade the dyes. much more control that way. as far as the look.. dunno. i always give the leather a good coat of lexol after the dye is applied then a good buff with denim finished off with a coat or two of pecards then buff again. i spend between 8 and 10 hours on a tool bag thanks!! i picked up some 2-3 0z. leather from siegel's. nice soft stuff good for lining ect. the edges are skived before glueing ans stitching

  13. well not really.... i have made a couple of these for guys wanting something to carry thier cell phone keys ect in. lined, saddle stitched and pull snaps used for ease of entry. he didn't want any tooling as it will be mounted low on the bick so, i gave the top some texture
  14. thanks darrell! there are quote a few of us here willing to share what we know. i wouldn't use staples on a hand tooled saddle myself. i only use large flange pop rivets

  21. yep! trim loc or rubber edge molding. you can normally find it at an auto parts store. padding depends on the application. i work anywhere from no padding to 2-3 inches most times. comfort comes more from the shape of the seat and how iit fits you more than anything else. if you are recovering a seat and using the existing padding then yes, it will be a bit stiffer at least till it breaks in some
