I get it. i think it's a good mag. it has quite a few "how too's" and a pull out pattern in each issue. there are also plenty of adds from suppliers and tool makers
-
well... it looks like you need to post some pics so that someone can tell you what you need to do to improve your technique
-
from what i can tell with the ones i made... i would agree. they need to be good and sharp and will cut with very little pressure. just make sure you are pushing it straight in and not pushing it down or you will leave marks even if it's sharp

good looking flasks Dan! very nice color work. what tool did you use to do the textured background on the first one with the fish? -
so if i am reading this correctly.... what we call tooling leather (vegetable tanned) you are calling veg crust? i only use veg tan tooling leather and wonder what the minimum order would be from you and what shipping would cost to the usa? i generally use 3-4oz, 7-8oz and 10-12 oz sides.

i don't see any mounting studs ect. i also don't think it would be strong enough without bracing. i wouldn't use it. either go with the cheep solo seats that sell on ebay and recover it or contact kevin at baas metalcraft. he makes a strong pan. tell him i sent ya. here is one of kevin's pans. he has a few different shaps and they come in 10 guage steel of stainless

yes, the doubled up leather is plenty thick but, it would not hurt to add some metal. if the bag gets wet at all it will droop
-
those tend to be kind of a droopy bag to start with. the back should be stiff to help the bag maintain it's shape and support the weight. the ones i have made do have flaps more to keep stuff in and keep the rain out the flap also adds some stiffness to the top of the bag

yea.. i know what your saying. i am the same way about certain things. i have four tool bags to make right now and i put them off because of the time involved (and i don't charge near enough) but, i am always happy with the finished product. those touches on a tank panel really make a difference i think

welcome to leatherworker Tipus! there are plenty of members here to answer any questions you may have

nice work! i like your lacing and brading also.

looks pretty good! i like the color and it looks like you have good depth on your basket weave. the only thing i would suggest is.. work on getting your basket weave closer to your border. what ever border stamp you use should overlap the basket weave so that it looks continuous.

i got a sale flyer yesterday. "stock is on the floor ready to ship"
-
hey john! glad your back. been wondering what happened to ya

i use one from barry king and i am more than happy with it! i don't undrstand the need for multiple knifes but that's just me. i use a 3/8" knife with a 1/4" straight blade. i used to use as AS knife with a 1/2" ceramic blade but it sits unused anymore. i hear bob's are the best but, i won't wait 6 months or more for a tool. barry's are available right away
-
i have not had any complaints. mine are pretty thick. i use 10-12oz for the body and either the same or 5-6oz for the gussets

welcome dunc! let me know if there are any questions i can answer put some pics of that seat up if you have them
