  1. not bad! any questions just ask. i've done about 90 seats in the last 3 1/2- 4 years
  2. LOL!! very true! i really need to make myself a couple nice belts. i have purchased a couple of nice buckle sets but just have not taken the next step. i also have to wear a tie a couple days a week and have been gonna make myself a tooled black leather tie
  3. nice clean belt! i still need to take the time to make one for myself );
  4. thanks dave! i am the same way.. i don't like bulky lacing on the edges. that is one of the reasons i stay away from more complicated patterns. yes, it's roo lace and it's not hammered down. i just try to lay it nice and even. this is also a very thick bag. it's 9-10oz outside and 3-4oz inside. thank you steve! any questions just ask. much of what i learn is from looking at what other people do thanks gary! i only use roo lace. there is nothing even close stregnth wise. it is pricy but, well worth it i think. i don't charge near enough for anything i make but, i make a little. 1/8" is what i use unless someone requests 1/4" i recentally purchased a roo hide but, have not cut any lace from it yet. i have been practicing on some cow hide scraps till i feel comfortable enough to try the roo hide thanks luke! i have seen pull snaps used on a few things and the only place i have found them is ohio travel bag. you just push on the leather to snap it closed and pull out the knob to open it. it makes for an easy access bag instead of un-doing buckes and straps. this is to be used for cell phone, keys ect and mounted low on the bike so he want something that was easer to use. the pull snaps are well made and work well but are not cheap. they were around $4.25 each without shipping
  5. well....sorta. i was asked to make a tool bag but he really wanted something for his cel phone, sun glasses ect so, i linned it and used pull snaps to make it easier to access. the compartment on the one end is for a large padlock he carries.

    i finally got around to installing the clamp i had my dad make for my current project. my father made this horse a good twenty years ago and it had a smaller jaw without much depth so, gave him some dims on what i would like to have and he made this one up. i am thinking about making a leather pad for the seat and will be replacing the draw strap with a leather one. figured i'ed show it off!

  11. last i heard they were bought and would continue. i did try to mail order a few things and they told me everthing was out of stock! i guessing they were in the middle of the sale and were not moving any inventory. i was told later this month they sould be good to go again
  12. that's different! i like the bone connecting rods
  13. well... i am not backed up like i was. the work seems to be just dribbling in as i finish one up i have another on the way but, i can't complain. i have a set of barry king fine checked bevels. i am going to order a set of smooth ones shortly. i takes a bit of time to get used to them as they are very steep but, i will never go back to a cheep bevel again! i aslo just picked up a barry king maul but have not had a chance to use it much yet. it's very well balanced thank you! i really love using the pebblers for matting areas down. i would like to come up with a dirfferent pattern with a nice texture like the pebblers have just to be able to change it up now and then
  14. i just finished this seat up. makes three in ten days. it's not plain and it's not black LOL!!
  15. welcome to leatherworker JP! you will have to share some pics of your work. we all like pictures!
  16. there is none! i just didn't feel it. it will have one of my decals on the bottom
  17. i really don't like to do them if i can help it. i charge the same tooled or not because of it. thanks dave!
  18. i really don't like plain seats but what cha gonna do. they are both good customers and needed them asap. i started the black one thursday and the other yesterday afternoon. i just need to cover the bottom of the light colored one and they are both done.
  19. thanks tim! i ride a 66 BSA chop. http://www.leatherworker.net/forum/index.p...pe=post&id=1791
  20. welcome tim! quite a selection of tank panels. nice work!
  21. www.kemmlerproducts.com has been mentioned before. i have not tried them yet. i get a better price than that from bbb as i have purchassed quite a few insertsa from them. looking at the prices kemmler wants for a cycle insert, i am paying about tha already or maybe a little less. i only use the solid inserts and the ones from bbb are 1/2" thick not 3/8" from kemmler. i have been going to order some samples just have not taken the time. i use barry king bevelers and 5-6oz leather for the top. i use a different leather for the side. that is the reason for the color difference

  23. thanks guys! it was fun to have a bit of a different challenge. the only real change i made from the old one was... the old one was all 1 1/2- 2 oz and i told him i would go 3-4oz for the cover. he is very happy with the way it came out
