  1. Do you have any examples?
  2. Thanks Cheryl. Yes, it's saddle tan. Made for a friend of mine that bought a two seat aircraft kit. The stitching was done on my new cowboy, that was a real trial because I had to turn the coaster with every new stitch but it came out ok. I could have went a little larger with the emblem but he wasn't expecting it and really liked it. The coaster was lined with rust suede on the back side. Layout for the lettering took awhile to get the proper spacing but you just can't cut corners if you want it to look good. Kevin.
  3. That's a bunch of fine looking peepers. You could sell those to stores for surveillance reminders to shoplifters. They look so real I'd have to turn the board around to change my clothes.
  4. I grind many of the posts off so they only stick up about 1/16 " . If the post is too long they will bend. This helps hold them for grinding.
  5. The tape can be punched out with your leather punches as small as you need.
  6. Double face carpet tape might work.
  7. If I was making that I would stamp the letters, carve and bevel the numbers then paint. Some here might carve the letters and the numbers.
  8. If you mean this tool, it's a heat or soldering iron with a flat tip. They come in electric or butane. http://www.amazon.com/Power-Probe-PPSK-Self-Igniting-Soldering/dp/B001DIE9BO/ref=sr_1_54?ie=UTF8&qid=1332507879&sr=8-54
  9. Andrew, I think Wiz means have a new foot fabricated by a machinist from scratch opposed to reworking an existing foot. Kevin
  10. Thanks for the help, I'll be back!
  11. I have a left and right harness foot so I'm hoping one of those will work. If I have clearance on the top of the case I think it might work.
  12. I want to stitch a pouch but the foot that is on the machine will be too wide and the stitches will be too far from the edge of the project so is this where I switch to the single foot in order to get closer?
  13. Fantastic work, thanks for posting before and after.
  14. I punch a hole top and bottom then cut two lines to join the holes with an exacto knife. Cut from each hole towards the center or you risk cutting past the hole.
  15. Can you tip it onto a trailer and roll it on steel pipes?
  16. Thanks for the information luke, that's where my next stamps will be coming from.
  17. Looks good from here, welcome .
  18. I don't think there will be any smell to it. I have used that specifically but anything else I've used to date for tanning hasn't been strong smelling.
  19. This would be good stuff. http://www.vandykestaxidermy.com/VRT4-P3860.aspx The skin itself with the tan on won't smell.
  20. Amazing work and detail on that piece.
  21. Thanks Rick, I just read a little something on back stitching I wasn't aware of. I think it puts all the thread on the bottom of the project so you don't see any ends on the finished side.
  22. The finished coaster.
  23. I've been running the needle to the top but I'll experiment with this, thanks Rick. What do you do when the bobbin runs out of thread, I suspect you try and stitch over, of course not running out and making sure the bobbin is full prior to starting is better.
  24. Beveling the edges after you dye also helps.
  25. I find a straight edge is a must in order to get a straight line. I've mastered putting edges on a round curve but any letter work requires set up time to get it right. This is how I normally set up when words require even spacing.
