  1. I am still trying to improve my saddle stitch using stitching irons Here is the front (left side) and the back (right side) .It looks like the i was not holding the irons perpendicularly when punching the holes and the back is not as straight as the front. Critiques and suggestions are more than welcome. Thank you !
  2. Here is a simple card holder made using the Wuta pricking irons...the #207 thread seems a bit to heavy on this one
  3. You can also use one of those adjustable edge creaser from Tandy. It leaves a wider groove..and as alpha2 said, put more pressure on it . Initially i thought the tips are flat, but they are round and it sinks in the grove a bit. i was gonna get the Crimson but i couldn't justify spending the extra money. I just wished the handles were a bit beefier ...but overall i am happy with them
  4. 2 and 8 teeth ...got them on ebay
  5. Just got the set today in the mail..only 5 days delivery time to Canada... These are the 3.85mm (#7) , making very clean holes ,and they go in and out with ease. I just tried 3 different threads on a 7-8oz chrome tanned...from left to right : #138 bonded nylon , #207 bonded nylon ( both threads are being used in my sewing machine) and the heaviest thread is a .8mm waxed braided nylon. The #138 and the #207 filled out the holes nicely ...the .8mm seems a bit "bulky" for the 3.85mm stitch but it might look nice on certain projects As usual , any comments , suggestions or critiques are more then welcome
  6. Bob..the picture you posted shows a different design...but i think i know what you meant,
  7. I should be making another one ,similar in design , one of these days and i will post few "work in progress" type of pictures
  8. The gusset concept it's not mine...i borrow it too...so go ahead...lol...
  9. I am trying to start hand stitching most of my products from now on and i am practicing every time i have a chance on small items. I am waiting on a set of Wuta irons in 3.85mm as the cheap ones i have tend to break the leather a bit The larger bag has 2 rings on the upper corners to attach a strap ...or attach it to 2 belt loops... I am working on the belt lops Here is a better picture of the buckle you liked
  10. I made the smaller pouch as a trial yesterday ...all hand stitched...and today i made the larger one as a hip/belt or shoulder bag fort my wallet ,phone and keys . The larger bag was machined stitched with #138 thread on my CB 4500. The smaller one was meant as a coin or card/cash colder. I used a cheap 4mm set of pricking irons ($20) and #138 bonded nylon thread that i am using in my sewing machines. Any comments are more then welcome Thank you !

  19. Great find on Kijiji today...mint condition stitching horse (looks like never used) made by Ken Allen with a swivel head, small tool racks on the sides and a built in wax holder...wow...lol... The cable that locks the clamp closed , runs in between the clamps ,so there is nothing the thread will get caught on. A lot of thought went into designing this fairly large beast
