  1. If it won't come off your skin, that is a good sign. You want the permanant stuff.
  2. You are not being snubbed, just when pics are hard to see a lot of people just move on. It is hard to coment on details when they are blury. From what I can see, as a beginner you are doing well. Details will clean up with practice.
  3. More the pictures than the work, they are blury and hard to see the work.
  4. Linen would work, does not melt. Oregon leather in Portland has it. Aaron
  5. Photo copy your image. Tape a piece of seran wrap over your leather. Tape your paper over the leather. Use a red ball point pen to trace your image (the red will show where you have traced and where you have missed). If you trace your image onto tracing paper and then trace again onto the leather you are going to have a lot of errors and lines that are off just a bit, unless you are the best tracer in the world. Or, take your image to the laser guy and have him laser the lines onto the leather, perfect transfer. Aaron
  6. Try quickly stomping on the pedal, the clutch motor will only give you one or two stitches that way. You will get the hang of doing it smooth and quick after a bit. Servo motor easier to control and sew slow with. Aaron
  7. Workshop day today. Come in and meet others, work on your project and get support from others. Portland Tandy, 10:00 Aaron
  8. Rubber cement; Temperary bonding Contact cement: Permanant bonding If your glue is too thick add a little bit of thinner, not too much though. I have been using Rennia instead of Barge and it is less stringy and easier to use and seems stronger.
  9. It was easy to do. All happens fast and once you are signed in you will see prices.
  10. Little ways off but if you are in Portland Saturday (tomorrow) and come in to Tandy to our club meeting I will show you how to do it. Aaron
  11. I would be in for 100 if that helps the numbers out. I too like the second one, it looks cast and not bent wire. If they are cast, the roller part is less desired to me than a normal buckle. I am really only interested in stainless, prefer medium shine. Be aware, if you put your neck out a number of people may not come through in the end. I have seen this happen before on forums. Many will, but people do came and go. Also you should have a 10% mark up to cover your costs, you will eat a few dollars along the way, so you should not be loosing money. Aaron
  12. Tandy braided thread is very similar.
  13. I like this a lot.
  14. Was it a shotgun wedding?
  15. http://www.goodsjapan.jp/category/awls/catId=4252437
  16. Permanent markers are good for dying small areas. But polyester will not accept dye, it is plastic so the dye is really just on the surface. You might have long term color issues. Aaron
  17. All have been sold.
  18. If the slits are straight and not slanted, it works no problem. If I understand corectly, you are lacing down two sides, like on a tank bib. It is a pet peave of mine when I see one and on one side it points down and on the other side it points up. The directions are almost all for lacing left to right. To get right to left patterns scan the directions into the computer and mirror the image, you will see the pattern for going the other way (although I admit the words will be confusing). Once you get started it is the same, only backwards. Someplace on here (years ago) I posted an image of this. Aaron
  19. Yea, highly unlikely you will ever get it off. Even if you used rubber cement(which is correct) you likely would never get all the paper off, and the glue residue is permanent. Next time, use packing tape on the back. It can be pulled off. If you are going to line it, then use rubber cement and glue it down to a piece of plexi-glass. I think someone gave me a copy of the video you have a while back, it was pretty bad. If you want to learn, get a Chan Geer video, the difference in learning will be night and day. Aaron
  20. Not simple at all. Short of a punch or clicker: A protractor, then trim oversized, then belt sand to the line.
  21. Hey! Your money is a funny color.
  22. I second this. Talk to Paul and he will point you in a direction with the proper knife that arrives sharper that you can imagine.
  23. It went pretty well. 5 people there. We had a number of people that said they were busy but would be attending in the future. In two weeks we will be there again. We will be starting a mailing list to keep contact with people and motivate as we move forward. Aaron
  24. Putting shoes in the freezer will help kill the bacteria that causes foot odor, might try it.
