My LG android phone was going dead in 4-6 hours. I thought it was the phone till someone else told me what was happening (it was brand new so I though it was a phone issue).Tossed my custom made case for a cheap store one and the battery life issue was instantly fixed. I have since made a nice leather one that fits a little on the loose side. The phone is happy and I am now that I am not using a cheap vinyl case.

If a phone case fits snugly it will tend to keep buttons depressed on your phone, draining the battery.

Likely wants it for fast draw. It is not for walking around in the woods. -

Lacing Sizes And Lacing Hole Sizes
electrathon replied to mtrain17's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
I usually use 1/8th" lace and 3/32nd slits. My opinion is round holes are for round lace, flat holes are for flat lace (there are a few exceptions). The tighter and closer the holes, the better it looks. Also, I punch about 1/8th" from the edge. -
My reference to it not being stronger is that stress will usually tear out the leather, not break the thread. Even the smallest thread is very hard to break. Very small thread can cheese slice the leather. I totally agree with you that knotting can keep the thread from coming loose.
-
If you have an area that is weak due to stress backstitching or knotting will not make it stronger. The backstitch is to keep it from unraveling, not gain strength. If the seam needs more strength that needs to be addressed through stitch length, thread size, double stitch seams and design changes.

Mens Formal Shoes Books?
electrathon replied to Chavez's topic in Shoes, Boots, Sandals and Moccassins
Handmade Shoes for Men Hardcover by Lazlo Vass (Author) , Magda Molnar (Author) You can buy it on Amazon. I will say that I have gone to a class on shoe making and there is a lot involved. You would be best off finding someone who will teach you the steps. -
Size Difference 0.8 Mm Braided Vs 3 Ply Nylon
electrathon replied to jus10's topic in Sewing Leather
Tiger thread is very good. There are a number of threads here. .8 or 1mm are both good depending on what you are sewing. I can send some samples for a few dollars. It is pretty cheap, you could have bought a spool of it for twice what you paid for the sample. -
Use a lighter. Clip it close and wave the lighter close, takes about a half second. I do this when I remember and can find the lighter.

I think the cat is thinking, "If that bag was on the floor I would be inside it right now!" -
Actually, forum etiquette. The polite responce is that it is rude.

You will do fine with the arbor press as long as you are only planning on small items. You will not be able to do a page of printing, but a name or sort sentence will print no problem. It does not take a lot of pressure to push in a few letters. You will need a plate both above and below the leather/type.
-
Take a lot of pictures. I have one on my bench that I keep debating setting it up ugly or disassembling and powder coating it. Aaron

You can print amazingly small. I have done a few things that are down in newspaper print size. Most of what you ill find will not be fancy fonts, but old fashioned blocky looking font. DO NOT hit the type, it is lead and can easily distort, Use a book press or a hot press tool (they work great) to do the imprinting. Once you start looking you will find lots of available type. Most of it is sold a lead scrap. I have more font than anyone could ever hope t use, much was gotten as bulk purchases because the person wanted it out of their shop. Aaron
