The Parks guys I work with pick up baseballs out of fields all the time. I have been collecting them for awhile now and will likely make a pile if them sometime soon.
  2. That is more of the answer. "Unique, quality leather tools at affordable prices".
  3. Yes, I was going to tell you to come over and I would show you, but not now. Long drive.

The pattern is here: http://leatherworker...06&hl=ball&st=0 Prepunch your holes where they are indicated. It is necessary to alter the spacing properly aound the radius to make the stitching align properly. Do no pull the stiches tight til you have all of the stiches in place. Dampen the leather with a spray of water and isopropal alcohol to stretch the leather as you tighten it up.
  5. I will give you my personal opinion, and that is all it is. You are an individual who is basicly offering to call the store that stocks/sells what I am interested in and asking them to drop ship it to me, for a fee. I have both the phone and the internt I know how to order. A primary concen to me is priciing, best price availabe for the item I am buying. I usually am able to buy at a discount. Also of concern is warranty when needed. You will not be able to offer either of these. If I buy Tandy crap and it is defective they will hand me a new one no questions asked. You wll not have anything to send me as a warranty and I question if you could afford to on an ongoing basis. My recomendation is to sell things that are otherwise hard to find, like tiger thread. Aaron
  6. OK, if you were in Portland I was going to tell you to show up tomorrow morning for project class.
  7. Don't buy the anvil, the rivets, the rivet setter, the rivet anvil. All of that is to se one rivet. Either use one chicago screw or sew the sot n the middle.
  8. Try dyeing your item dark brown first, then black.
  9. I have a hot foil machine and It works awsome, I just do not use the foil. Mine uses lead print type and I can get larger pieces (to a degree) under the throat.
  10. Very little that we make needs to have the stitches protected from abrasion. Compare what you are making to comercially produced items, most do just fine with the stitches on the surface. It really is more of an apearance issue than anything.
  11. The upholstery guys use steam to smooth things out.
  12. I view it like this. Mozart could likely have made great music from an out of tune piano. A average quality pianist could make good music out of a high end concert piano. But the high end piano will always be easier for the musician to play better music. And in the hands of a master, the high end will always be superior. Many people never realize how much better their work would be if they used good tools since they have nothing to compare too. I have had people demonstrate to me that they did awsome work with Craft tools. I then pulled out a high end tool and showed them how much better their work would look. In general, if the person in into quality, they quickly decide they like the cleaner, crisper look better. I have had a couple tell me that the clairity/clispness is not of concern to them. And the new Craft tools are BAD. The ones in the beginner kits are horendous. They are mis-shaped and leave muted impressions. The newer pro series tools are much better, and they are on sale for $15 each after Christmas. And yes, I am a tool guy. I have a lot of very nice tools Aaron
  13. You are right. Many of the old Craft tools were decent quality. It is the new ones that are a mess. Your work looks good. I would love to see something you did with the crispness of high end tools. I think you likely would be one of the masters. Aaron
  14. elecrathon- I BELIEVE a titorial is an in structural guide to undergarments! If I could spell I would be something other than a fix-it guy! Have to admit, going from tuts to tits is move in the right direction.
  15. That is double loop lacing. There are a number of titorials around or in is im nost of the leather craft books.
  16. Looks very nice. For a beginner it is amazing. Aarn
  17. As an absolite minimum you will need a box cutter, punch or awl and needles. Once you get a better focus on exactly what you want to do the list will get longer, but you can start (and make simple wallets) with a very short list.
  18. Short answer. You cut a hole a little bit smaller than the stone. Wet mold the leather down over the stone so they the leather tips up, mold the tipped up area tight to the stone with a modeling tool. Glue the stone in with a small amount of contact cement, glue a back on (second layer of leather) with contact cement. The rest is just finessng the qualty.
  19. Not as bad as you might think. It is poor quality, crappy work. But the stitches are just going to wearoff anyways. Soles can be held n wth nothi but glue fdo properly (pretty common actually).
  20. They probibly never got it. I have had the PO sign off on delivery confirmation when the package was never delivered (to a work aaddress with a receptionist). Had it happen twice. Once it showed up weeks later and once never saw the package. They also leave packages outside and criminals come behind the mailmen and pick up the packages. Probibly the purchaser was rather insulted to buy something, not recieve it and then have the seller ask for more money for another one.
  21. Dwight, You set yourself up for this. If you molded this to your body you have the strangest shaped man boobs and six pack ever. LOL Aaron
