Loose the overstitch wheel and get a pricking iron (good japan is reasonable). It will make all of your sewing look better.

The Tandy awls are not the best quality. Probably not an exaggeration to say that it is likely the lowest quality awl on the market. Look at the tools at goods japan.

It is called supply and demand. There is no amount of money you can charge that would be ripping anyone off. If you charge too much, no one will buy it. It is worth exactly what someone is willing to pay.

You need small bevelers. You can narrow down some of the Tandy ones if you can not afford good ones.

The basic rule is 4x the distance round. BUT, tread I very cheap, I would toss three foot of thread every time to make sure I was not 1 inch short.

I feel that is you had a lot of money this might be an option. I question the durability of the drill in this application, I have burned up a number of them in use. Batteries are way expensive, you would need to replace them every few years. A servo motor would cost less than a single quality drill.

Other than that for a second try it looks pretty good.

T tool is not backwards, they are pointing backwards. From the center vein they need to point up and forwards, they are pointing down.

Your veins in the leaves are backwards.

Look on ebay under mini drill chuck.

I don't know what most end up paying for them, but I got mine for $140. Not that bad. I would think most other options would be close to $100.

About the only critique I have is the quality of the leather, looks pretty poor. The construction looks good, your corners come together well and are not pinched and twisted. I do think it will get dirty quickly being so light colored, but I do not have the ability to stay clean. Aaron

Generally you would braze it back together. Fast, simple and easy.

Overall for a beginner your work looks good (hence the above comments). I think you are referring to the tooled/bevel marks around the perimeter of the carving. The main answer is "the angle and how hard you hit your tools". A little bit of tipping makes a lot of difference. Also, some tools have a slightly different shape to the face and that slight difference matters a lot.

The leather you are looking for is called sole bend. Cut the pieces a little too big, contact cement them together. Grind them to fit with a belt sander. Before you install the heal, clean up the front, install the deal and then shape the sides and back. You will also need a piece of rubber sole to use as the bottom of the heal, unless you are fond of slipping and falling down. The heal is nailed on, I am not sure how it is normally done, short nails through a couple layers or longer nails. As to reshaping the heals, maybe someone else will speak up but it is my understanding that your gate will be off if the heal drops straight down. I am far from a pro, but I have been trying to learn shoe stuff too.
