  1. It is not possible to get complete penetration when you dye leather yourself.
  2. Take a look at this site: http://www.aacrack.co.uk/maine
  3. I dont see dip dyeing as a good way of dyeing big pieces of leather..At least not for me. Putting a 50x25" piece of leather into a container big enough to hold the leather as well as 5-10 liters of dye is not something I want to try. Would you seriously dip dye that big of a piece?
  4. People always recommend dip dyeing or spraying when dyeing big pieces. I have never seen a picture of anybody actually doing this with a large piece. I dye pieces that are 50x25" using this method: Dyeing big pieces with good results. I would love seeing somebody trying to dip dye that big a piece. Also I would not want to dye the flesh side of the leather as it would soak up so much dye! I dont think it is possible to get a perfect even color on a big piece of leather as the leather does not take in the dye evenly. I dont think this matters as it adds character to the leather and shows that its actually natural product. If you want a almost totally even color then you need to buy it pre dyed.
  5. My latest creation. A simple portfolio. Read more about how its made here: http://andersenleather.blogspot.com/2016/04/simple-folio.html
  6. I actually do have setter and I bought it to fit the 2mm rivets. I tried it in the past but I cant seem to get it to work. It seems to big. You can only hit it straight from the top. If you are a little off the tool touches the base plate and makes circular marks. Am I doing it wrong or is the setting tool too large?
  7. Hi, I need to secure this lock with rivets: http://www.abbeyengland.com/Store/tabid/77/CategoryID/201/Category2ID/110/List/1/Level/2/ProductID/69334/language/en-GB/Default.aspx The rivets is 2mm in diameter As you can see on the pictures the hammer is not able to go all the way around the rivet which makes it hard get it properly set. Does anybody have any good advice?
  8. As the title says. Is it possible to make gold initials without having an embossing machine? What I want to achieve is something like this:

  11. This is how I do my edges http://andersenleather.blogspot.com/2015/10/burnish.html?q=burnish This is the inside of a similar bag
  12. That is a really nice briefcase. 2-2,2mm doesn't sound like much but it looks like it holds its shape without any problems. I like that it has a news paper pocket. The stitching and edges looks flawless. The leather for the partition board is skived to the same thickness as the gusset? The accordion gusset looks nice but I guess it is only for show as there are no extra holes in the straps? Where do you get your leather from?
  13. Ahh I see. That is great. I wish similar options were available in my country.
  14. Yes 3,5mm for the gusset would be way too thick. What kind of splitter did you use?
  15. I made a music bag and took some pictures along the way. Go here to see: http://andersenleather.blogspot.com/2016/01/music-bag.html
