  1. Those all look nice Colt. Did you have a pattern or did you just make up you own?
  2. Wow that is a lot of wetting and waiting. I've been working leather for about 40 years and I don't go through all that. Of course most of my work is stamping with basket weave although I do some carving. I use Pro-carv by Bee Natural Leathercare. I use a spray bottle to wet the leather on both sides and let it out to the air for a few minutes and when it is turning back to the natural color I start stamping. It works for me, I get good clear impressions, and I am busy making and selling holsters and belts. I'm pressed to keep up with orders. My customers are happy and so am I. I suppose if I was to enter into a show and be judged it would make a difference, but I don't intend to do that.
  3. Looking good. I'm sure he will be pleased with that sheath.
  4. Looks to me like you are doing excellent. Nice work.
  5. Very nice straps Chief. And very informative post about the instruments and straps. Glad to know this.
  6. Thanks Thor. I'll have to keep that in mind for my next carving. I appreciate the tips.
  7. I like it. Looks like you have it mastered.
  8. I dyed it with Fiebings Professional Oil Dye in Saddle Tan and then antiqued it with Fiebings medium brown antique dye.
  9. Thanks Thor, I appreciate the comment. What lines do you have in mind though. I thought I beveled all lines that were there, I'm not sure what you are seeing.
  10. I'm not sure if I will lace it or just sew it. Probably just sew it, although I am going to try to match a holster I made for the Springfield 1911 and the holster is laced.
  11. Thanks Wild Bill. I am at this time drawing up a plan for the magazine pouch. Strangely I have made many, many holsters both for revolvers and automatics but I have never made a magazine pouch. I have a customer that seems to think I can make a satisfactory one for him. So with his insistence I will try.
  12. Thanks everyone for all the great comments and encouragement. It is all greatly appreciated. Now I am working on making a double magazine pouch for a 1911 .45 ACP. Anybody have any tips or plans for one?
  13. Here is a new holster I just finished today. I am happy with it and hope you like it too. Feed back welcome.
