Hi there Minimal. I do and have done a lot of molding and this method looks hard and is very impractical. Nice belt Chief. I too have a liking for the black "police" look when it comes to belts. I sell heaps of them. I do all sizes and have a machine that I can change the dies in to make my life easy. Have you tried the 794 LR needles. They cut a hole on an angle to the leather which allows the stitch to lay nicely. They also look good from the back side. Its the needle that will be 2 o'clock 8 o'clock configuration. That's the cut style. The only way to achieve perfection on both sides is to hand stitch. cheers TRK

Looks to me from the pictures that your needle is blunt (check that first) or the leather that you are using for the lining is very loose and fiberous. Do a test with some good leather top and bottom with the flesh sides inward and see how that comes out. Stitching otherwise looks fine. (layout evenness etc). Get yourself some new needles in the 794LR NM250/26 Canu: 53:20AX1 SCHMETZ cheers TRK

Hi there Raven. Me again. Use a photo copier to resize your patterns. Its the percentage setting that you need to adjust. Just remember that not all parts will proportionately bigger. My suggestion is that when you get an order to make get some measurements with it. That way it should fit pretty good. By the way are you happy with the tags ? cheers Trevor

How many are you after ? I have a clicker knife and a press and will do them for you. My knife is a basic shape with no writing just a shape cutter. I do have some magnesium plates that will have Genuine leather on them. Or I could get you a plate made with your details then press it onto the leather. Anyway let me know. Cheers TRK

Would it be easier to do it on a mandrel with nails?

Hi. There are two buttons on the top bed. One is for the stitch length and the other is to re-set the clutch. Its very easy. Just push down the button and turn the hand wheel around (I Think backwards) until you fell the clutch resist then push it a little further and it will click into place. Don't do anything else underneath. Leave it alone . Good luck TK If you want an instruction manual I have one here that you can have. cheers

Hi there. The type of leather you require is veg tanned either a bridle or russet and it has to be about 3.0mm to 4.0mm thick. Now in the States you people measure the leather by weight . but any good leather dealer will tell you how thick it is. Go and buy the skin yourself. Don't mail order or you will end up with rubbish. Hunt down the good stuff. Look up in your local directory or phone book where the tannery's are and go there and buy what you want. Most craft shops will sell it but be aware that it will be a higher price and maybe not such good quality. Go to the tannery is the answer. Ask for DYE-Thru as well. this is where the leather is dyed all the way through so when you cut it its not just lightly coloured on either side. You still need edge dye and finishing sealer to finish off the edges etc. Good luck ..

Thanks heaps. Yes the hole and slit method of fastening is vey old. It has been used by many a pouch maker especially during war time manufacture as it is almost unbreakable. I use it on my watch pouches as well. Its just the interference fit which does not let go. I believe that these are better than the back screw versions which can shear off under pressure. Cheers T

Just finished these two basket weave magazine pouches recently for a customer. Something a little different I guess as well. My two cents worth. Just use the contact adhesive and when tacky put the two together and press. Make sure they are line up. You could use a "jewellers rolling mill" but not sure if you would find one at the right price. I use a modified one for embossing. Picture attached. Good luck

I have a bender that is set up to bend these very rings. I have it on loan from a good friend. He did some slings and wanted me to do the leather part and he made a bender to make the rings. We did them in brass and they looked fantastic. I could do some if you are stuck. Would need to check that these are what you are after. I live in Auckland New Zealand so postage and a few bucks for the metal. Happy to make a few for you. cheers This one is 304 stainless 5mm thick. Can do Brass 3/16th's (have on hand)
