Beautiful work Tina, Cheryl

I have a Singer 27 on a treadle I never use. I wondered if I added a servo motor to it instead could I sew my wallet interiors, and other light things with it. I've tried to find an industrial machine I can afford but I just can't right now. Thanks, Cheryl

OK Chris if you send me a PM with your Paypal info I'll send it. And just bring it to Fla with you and send it, don't wanna pay more for shipping than the pouch, LOL. So tell me shipping from there. Well if you'll have room or are you already home? Cheryl

Can't you reverse engineer these kits to make a pattern? Cheryl

BTW thanks guys. I have an order going for SLC. and just ordered 100 key chains. I've liked the idea of having something inexpensive for my customers. I'll just stamp VT and put my maker's mark on them. Cheryl

I don't 'hand' out business cards. Someone has to ask me because I'm cheap, LOL. As a tag on a purchased product I wouldn't mind something like this, but would rather it be a key chain or something functional. My first farmer's market I went to the bathroom and my neighbor watched my booth. When I got back she was handing out my business cards to everyone. I told her people that don't ask just throw them away and not to do that. I can see both sides here and do know if I made something like this as a key chain to go with a paid product I would just have my name and phone number on it. And maybe VT. We get a lot of tourists and they like things with VT on them. Cheryl

ROFL, i'd say a chastity belt would fit right in. I have decided I'm going to make some soft shoes, similar to moccasins from hair-on-hide leather. The tools I'll be using, age appropriate as possible is a knife, shears, needled and thread, and glue. Anyone who wants to give this same project a shot we can muddle through it together. Or I'll carry on alone but I might end up with two left shoes. Oh and fringe will be veg tanned died with vinegaroon. The didn't have the ever popular steel wool we use today but that doesn't mean they didn't have cider and rusted metals. Off we go!!!!! Cheryl

Hey Char, I think if you read this tutorial KK did on making a wallet, it shows how to bind the edges in the pics. http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=9940
I hope this helps, Cheryl

I'll try to answer as much as I can. I'm going to tool me a pillow MAYBE on some tooling pig I got cheap at Springfield Leather Company because it's only around 2 oz. I've never made a pillow before so that may be too light weight, will have to see when the leather comes. However it is veg tanned for tooling. I would recommend Springfield to anyone, great products and excellent customer service. I would give them a call at http://springfieldleather.com/ toll free and ask them some of these questions. I'm pretty sure they'll cut your leather for you and you don't have to buy whole hides from them anyway, they sell it by the sq. ft. They also have so big hides they sell of upholstery type leather for $20.00 a piece and you could make several pillows from one hide. They will come as close to the color you want as possible. I bought one just to see what they were like and got a pretty pine colored green and it was nice. They sell their veg tanned also by the sq. ft. if you want to try some of the heavier leather for your pillows, like maybe 4-5oz.
The cost is up to you really and how much you do on the pillow. Are you going to tool it? Are you going to fringe it? If you're just going to sew it inside out then stuff it the process should be very fast. If you're going to tool, dye, fringe, put a finish on it, condition the leather, etc. on veg tanned it becomes a longer process. I hope some of this was helpful. Cheryl

Servo Motor On A Singer 27

Tom it's not me not wanting to treadle it, LOL, I want to be able to slow it down. So I looked at the three machines I have, two I'm using and this one not so much. I think I would use it a lot if I had a way to walk it around projects. I think I will try a servo with it and see what happens
