So...........the heel knot in Grant's book is the exact same as the three pass pineapple knot then?? I didn't know that...

Alright. I just tried that tutorial I posted in the first post in this thread using a dark color, a light color, and a different dark color -- and it is still completely jacked up. Would some kind soul that actually knows what they're doing (because I apparently do not) please run through that tutorial and let me know if the tutorial is full of crap or if I am? It would be very helpful if someone could confirm if the tutorial is correct. I also could see the pattern emerge after I completed the second pass...I thought about just trying to continue that pattern just by sight, but I haven't tried that yet. I have to go to the range this weekend, so I will probably have many hours to try to get this right. (I usually qualify in the first firing order and then wait at the range for another eight hours for everyone else to try a few times...what fun...) Thank you, KnotHead...I will go watch that now...

Yeah...I just finished reading the part on the heel knot in his book just now...I usually cannot follow his drawings, but for some reason they made sense to me on this one more than the pics in the tutorials...especially where he talks about additional passes. I'll read the link megabit posted too...

See, I tried that and it didn't help. Maybe I should try the three-color tutorial, here... http://pineappleknotstutorials.over-blog.org/article-grant-s-heel-knot-in-3-colors-90272068.html I tried using different colors on each pass using the first link I posted earlier today, but it didn't help at all... Also, when you flip it over, how do you know where to begin that pass?

Ok, so I've been trying to follow this tutorial for over a week now... http://pineappleknotstutorials.over-blog.org/article-grant-s-heel-knot-one-strand-90275515.html ...but I'm not getting it. I get all the way through until the third pass (step 13) and then get lost. They said to parallel the original "working end" (maybe they mean "standing end"? I've tried going to the immediate right of the original working end and also tried the immediate right of the second pass -- neither works) of the 7x6 knot. When I do that, I end up with railroad tracks that never get split. Are there any better tutorials for this that are easier to follow??? I understand pineapple interweaves pretty well now, but am not getting the third pass of the heel knot here... As always, thanks for any useful info...

Has Anyone Found A European Stitching Clamp Under $150?
TXAG replied to DavidL's topic in Sewing Leather
So not even a price range? $500? $1,000,000??? I don't get why it's such a big secret...makes me think it must be extraordinarily over-priced if no one can even utter a price range... -
It's actually 14.7psi at sea level...I think 18 would put you in a very deep hole in the ground or something...

Call your local UPS depot office -- that is unacceptable and needs to be stopped immediately. This is people's STUFF we're talking about...not trash. It shouldn't be left out in the rain/snow/etc. irrespective of "why" it happens. One of the drivers in my area was scanning my stuff as "Delivered" just whenever he felt like it. I get instant notifications on my tablet to tell me immediately when the status changes. I was getting "delivered" notifications, so I'd go outside and look around -- no truck, no package, nothing. Then the guy showed up like twenty minutes later with my package. A call to the depot stopped that in a hurry.

Can you please post an example of one of your pages of code? I'm curious to see what it looks like and how it works.

Where did you get the metal bits on those? Did you make those parts? The colors really look good on them...

Help Please. Even Out Veg Tan Tone / Partially "sunned"
TXAG replied to jtron5's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
Some windows block UV...I would put it outside, in the sun. -
I have the same exact problem with the missing characters. Also, my enter key does not work. I have to copy and paste carriage returns from notepad to get to the next line on here. Makes no sense.
-
Well...I am on a T3 and have noticed the same problems. It's not my connection. There's obviously a problem...you shouldn't have to reload a page multiple times to get it to actually load.

I need to get me one of those leather garrison caps so I can look that cool...ooooo...
-
That's a good idea...I think I have some that will work in the right size at home...might have to try that. Also thought about wrapping around the base with stainless steel 16ga wire to give it more heft...then putty on top of that.

Yeah, I have a really nice Gingher rotary cutter and it doesn't work for $#@# on cutting a straight line on my leather. I have the same problem with the utility knife too. I usually end up scoring it with the utility knife and then bending it and cutting the rest of the way. (This is with a brand new blade also, so it's not that.) I should probably just invest in a good round knife and be done with it...maybe if someone would ever buy any of my stuff, I'll be able to invest in such things.

Whomever receives those are all going to be very, very happy.

Lots of discussion about this, here... http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=51046

That's funny...that's the same way I notate how to tie different turkshead knots in my small notebook... I probably need to start working on plaiting different patterns once I get a little better with the turkshead knots.
-
You're probably right...but I don't really have the funds to go out and buy large pieces of leather for it to be cost effective right now. I was already planning on copying the pattern for future use, so that is a good idea.

Well. Turns out the app is compatible with my old 7" tablet, but not on my new 7" tablet. Oh well. Really hate when they do that...
