  1. Very few people are fortunate enough to live within convenient driving distance of a guild or somewhere to take lessons...I'm trying to set one up in my area, but it's going to be really hard to do, I think...
  2. Good luck...if you figure it out, please post it...
  3. The books I have reference a whole hoard of different pineapple knots, so I do not know which one the "basic" one would be...they are all different and they all look different when completed.
  4. ...and I would STILL really, very much like to know what exact, specific knot this is and how to tie it, pretty please with sugar on top. I really don't think that's too much to ask...if someone asked me for this info and I had it, I would tell them.
  5. Here are some more knots I've been working on to practice... Bruce Grant Heel Knot: Same Heel Knot from above: 3-pass Type 3 Pineapple Knot: 4-pass Type 3 Pineapple Knot:
  6. Tracym -- the number of x's you go through on each side is apparently determined by the "type" of knot...the one I did last night, I didn't go through any after an "up" half cycle and went through three x's at the end of the "down" half cycle... Unrelated, but I am shocked that no one can/will tell me what this specific knot is.
  7. Well. This probably will not help your blood pressure any, but I have it on good authority that UPS has been recruiting people in suburban areas for local parcel delivery...they basically set up a trailer in one of your neighbor's driveways, deliver the packages (locking them in the trailer) during the day, then the person is supposed to deliver them around their neighborhood in the evenings in their own personal vehicles. Really doesn't sound like a good situation, to me...
  8. One thing that really sucks about USPS is that they do sometimes delivery mail to the wrong address -- when there is delivery confirmation on the package and they deliver it to the wrong address, it still shows up as "delivered" because they scanned it as "delivered" even though it isn't where it's supposed to be. PayPal will still find in your favor if that is the case though...but it's bad because you don't have any way to know if it was delivered to the wrong address or if the person really did get the package and is lying.
  9. The different "types" of pineapple knots are very different though...the one I did last night doesn't look anything like the one here. Sure would like to know specifically which knot this is. I find it hard to believe that no one can name it, given the expertise on here. That leads me to think it's another one of those "secrets".
  10. Sure wish I could find a good tutorial for this one...spent most of the entire day today scouring the internet and YouTube for one. Nothing useful found. I did finish that four pass type 3 pineapple knot and it does not look the same as this one. Can someone please tell us if this is a type 1 (or some other type) and what the base knot is? 5Lx4B? 7Lx6B? Something else?
  11. Well, *I* do. Good to know they do crap like that...just reinforces my decision to avoid them under all circumstances.
  12. Care to tell the rest of us who "that" place is so that we can avoid them, please??
  13. I don't think that will work as it wouldn't follow the same pattern...hard to explain, but doing it that way would basically make another run parallel to the first one, but not following the same pattern. That probably doesn't make any sense...I'd need to do it both ways on a mandrel and show you the difference to explain it better.
  14. You can actually sort of track first class international packages using the Customs form number. It will not be acceptable by PayPal for proof of delivery, but at least you can usually see where it is and when it's finally delivered. I've been shipping this way for a very long time now and that's how it's worked for me. I've also found that first class international can take anywhere from two weeks to six months, so...make sure your buyer knows this before they just opt for the cheapest method. I've had them tell me to ship it first class international and then nag me constantly asking when it's going to be delivered, starting three days after I shipped it...those, I do not sell to anymore.
  15. Yeah, I still need the O/U so if anyone can confirm the links on the last post of the first page are for the same knot, I would appreciate it. Also need to know how to get two colors together, alternating...the links to the tutorial I found alternate colors every string instead of every two strings.
  16. Is this the same knot? http://pineappleknot...g-90281932.html http://pineappleknot...g-90295289.html http://pineappleknot...g-90544613.html If so, how do you get two lines of each color instead of every color alternating, one per row? (Course...these were done by the same guy that did the one I tried to use for two weeks that never worked...so who knows...)
  17. I think I have the three pass one down now. The over/under list in the link in my first post in that thread was complete trash. I watched the YouTube video posted in the thread and was able to do it and transcribed the correct O/U in my notebook. I'd love to move on to the four-pass like this one... Also, just tied the Horn knot for the first time just now. OK, well if anyone else can point me to a good tutorial (or at least the over/under pattern) for this knot, I'd really appreciate it.
  18. That's neat! I might have to "borrow" from that...
  19. Looks like a large/long turkshead knot to me...though the pic is so tiny, it's hard to tell for certain...now that I look at it again, I think I've seen it in the ABOK...I will go look through mine and see if I can find it...I just looked through it and it could also be some type of whipping. Really hard to tell from such a small pic. If you want to do it yourself, I would recommend reading through the threads I've posted in this section as I am focusing on learning turkshead knots too. I think you may find it is more complicated than it looks...it was, for me.
  20. Leatherpownder, is that a type 1 4-pass pineapple knot or type 3? Can you recommend a tutorial for that one, please?
