?? I don't get it...why is everything a big secret?? You know what? Nevermind...I'll try to ask someone else.

How do you get yours to look stuffed if you don't stuff it? What would be the ideal thickness leather to use for these?
  3. I've read in a different book that you're supposed to taper the ends of the thread so that won't happen (double width of thread at the needle).
  4. I just wanted to save others from wasting their time going there and signing up for an account to see their pricing like I did. I never patronize places that gouge like that, so wanted to warn others before they wasted their time if they don't care for places like that either. That's all. This is a public forum and if you don't want anyone else's responses except for hers, you should've pm'ed that to her. Other people besides you two read these questions for info. That's why I was trying to give everyone else a heads-up. You are obviously ok with that place, so my reply wasn't directed to you.
  5. I don't have any use whatsoever for that dvd rental place. Is there anywhere that just sells the dvd's outright? I have less than zero intention of paying $12 a month to rent one dvd at a time. That's ridiculous. edit...I see now that they're available on Bryan's website...I will just order them there instead of getting gouged by the rental place.
  6. I took the four pass apart (it was boring anyway because it was four different and ugly colors) because I don't have enough lace...I have to reuse it when I want to practice. If I can successfully create the knot with two colors with two passes per color, I'll make sure to post a pic then. I can also post the O-U for this if someone wants me too so they don't have to try to decipher it from the pics...
  7. A couple of things that have really p##### me off a lot lately are 1) retailers sitting on their collective a#### and not shipping my order for days on end and also 2) charging me $7-$12 or more for shipping for a single, god-forsaken tool. I'm sick of it. I've written off (PERMANENTLY) a couple of dealers that have done this to me lately. Maybe one day, there will be a dealer that isn't lazy, that cares about getting someone's order CORRECT (a third major irritation), and not ripping me off on shipping. There are MANY times an item can be shipping via first class mail (all packages weighing 13 ounces or less) WITH insurance and delivery confirmation, if we're forced to have that. Anyway, hopefully you will fill that void in my leathercrafting needs.

Thanks...I'll have to give it a try...looks like fun...
  9. I've read the term you're looking for is "braiding master"...not "master braider"... I can recommend a book that might help with what you're trying to do...it's "Braiding Fine Leather" by David Morgan...it covers braiding around a core, attaching to an o-ring, etc. There's no one in my area that I can learn from, so I've been learning from here and also a lot from YouTube. Good luck...hopefully there's someone in your area that can/will teach you. I'd like to hear of any DVD's that only focus on braiding also.
  10. That would be handy...wish I could find one of those to fix up...

Looks nice... I'd like to make some baseballs sometime if I could find a tutorial...
  12. Right. Except I was also born in Texas and lived here all my life. Yours looks like the Liberian flag. ...not that there's anything wrong with that. Just looks closer to the liberian flag than Texas'. But like I said...it's neat. I'm certain she'll love it.
  13. Ok, well back to the knot -- I was able to complete a 9Lx8B 4-pass knot with the tutorial by adding in the extra overs and understand between the ends. During this time, I also discovered the "reverse interweave", described in one of the Hought books...it basically centers the passes between the ends. I think by applying the same technique, I can probably make a 3 or 4-pass knot in the same way, so that it is centered. I'm trying to figure out how to make it have two colors per row that are centered and without "doubling" previous passes. Maybe I'll figure it out before I die. lol
  14. Looks like this...neat... http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_Liberia

  16. I think this section is meant for selling raw materials..e.g. leather and lace...not finished products.
  17. That's good, in theory...but I've been an Amazon Prime member for a few years and have noticed tgast items that are "fulfilled" by Amazon are often WAY overpriced so that they can offer "cheaper" shipping. It used to sort of even out, but now that they apparently collect sales tax on ALL transactions, it's not really much of a bargain anymore at all. ...at least in my several years of experience on there... I have also pretty much decided I will not be buying anymore Tandy products anymore.
  18. Nah...I understand where to begin the passes now...and when I look at the pics of the knots again, it appears they are not centered either. I read more in one of the Hought books the other day and she mentioned a "reversed second interweave"...where she flips the knot around 180 degrees and begins it from the other side, specifically to address that problem. I do not know how to apply that fix to this knot though...maybe the 3rd and 4th passes need to be started on the other side the same way.
  19. Hmmm...Not sure I've seen those specific ones that attach that way then. You might try choosing the "arts, crafts, and sewing" category on there and then search for rare earth magnets. I'll see if I can find them on there. Well, I found a place that may have what you need...www.kjmagnetics.com If you cannot find them on their website, I'd recommend contacting them...looks like they have all sorts of different mounting options for magnets.
  20. Ahh...didn't see the charms. Well, you can get similar magnets on amazon. I'd give you a link, but the lovely idiots in IT at T-mobile broke my tablet's ability to copy text. You can find them on Amazon by searching for "rare earth magnets". They have all sorts of sizes that should work for your project. I've bought some to hang stuff on my walls in my office and they work great...they are very strong.
  21. I don't get it -- what is the purpose of the magnets supposed to be?
  22. Is there a link to this video? Maybe others would like to see it.
  23. I know...it does seem like that. Or it is possible I am just the village idiot. Haha I'm almost finished with the fourth pass and I have 5 leads of the dark color at the bottom and only 3 leads at the top. I do not know how to get the lighter passes centered. Very frustrating.
  24. Yeah, I am going to try it again in a minute...last night, I pulled out all the last attempt at a 3rd and 4th pass I made so that I'm back to a completed 2-pass knot...hopefully, I'll get it right this time... Edit: I think I finally got it -- if so, I'll post pics later... (the first two half cycles on new passes are hardest for me...)
