  1. I think that's going to be your only option aside from cutting it, knotting it, or folding it neatly along the length and braiding over it...the cleanest fix (in my opinion) would be to pull it tight from an end...
  2. Can you get to the core from either of the ends and pull it tight from there?
  3. That is nice. I'm about to start on my wallet and I can't decide whether I want to do a smaller design on each side or one larger design across the whole wallet (i.e. like yours where you can only really see it well with it opened up flat...) Anyone have any opinions on that? I'm afraid if I do one larger design, it won't look right unless it's opened up fully. If it depends on the design, it would be an intricate design of my alma mater's official seal...or possibly something similar to my avatar...
  4. Thanks, Bret and Buck...that means a lot coming from y'all... King's X...I probably didn't explain what I'm trying to do very effectively...here is the knot I'm trying to make: http://leatherworker.net/forum/uploads/gallery/album_1990/med_gallery_29082_1990_61216.jpg I've tried doing the first and second pass one color and the third and fourth another color and cannot get it to look like that. I guess I probably never will...not smart enough. Thanks again for the encouragement everyone...
  5. I've used the BK stamps and I think they're fine...don't know of any others that are high quality...maybe someone else will...
  6. So I bought a piece of 1-7/8" OD PVC to use for a knot mandrel for turksheads...I ended up cutting a short piece off with a hacksaw and then took it to my disc sander to even it out. I took it to the sink to wash the PVC dust off...and ran my finger around the inside to get the dust out...and proceeded to slice my finger open on the inside rim. Boy, did that hurt!!! Way worse than a paper cut! After I stopped the bleeding, I took some Scotchbrite and sandpaper to it to try to remove that sharp edge. Still don't feel like using it for a while..... OUCH! Edit: I had "PVC" in the title, but this stupid forum software thinks it knows better than I do what I'm talking about, so it changed it to "Pvc". Way to go, forum software.
  7. God, it would be nice if this forum software worked the way it's supposed to. Grrrrrrrrrr....... http://www.leathercrafttools.com/tools/punch/diamond-hole-punch/list.jsp Sorry...I don't think I should have to type out an entire URL and not be able to paste it (ctrl-V) nor use the stupid "link" icon. I find it hard to believe that neither of those work. Anyway, I am done ranting now.
  8. Ok, so I was going to order one or two of these from them, but I am having a hard time converting their"pitches" to actual stitches per inch. If any of you all understand this, can you please tell me what pitch size of theirs would be roughly equivalent to 6tpi? Also, is 6tpi a good all around hole spacing for wallets and small pouches/sheaths? Or should I go with a different hole spacing? I would like to use a nice thread on the heavy side that will show up well (contrasting stitching) Thanks for any help on this... p.s. If anyone could have a look at their thread selection and let me know if you see anything comparable to Ritza/Tiger thread, that would help a lot too...thanks for...,
  9. Ahh...Newfoundland... I bet I'm one of the only people in Texas that pronounces Newfoundland correctly. (Vacationed in St. John's for about a week a couple years ago...) Welcome to the forum...
  10. Thanks...you will get better...It took many, many hours of practice and frustration, coupled with setting it all aside occasionally to get to this point...keep at it and you'll be tying better than me before you know it...
  11. You can upload a picture by clicking on the "gallery" link at the top of the page. For a pattern, I saw a guy selling a CD of a bunch of military technical drawings from Rock Island Arsenal...there's probably dimensions of ammo cases in there...I couldn't bring myself to give him money for US government documents that ought to be free, so I didn't buy one... Then again...maybe I will...I have an idea for what to do with those, now that I think about it...
  12. Your previous post asking the same question... http://leatherworker...showtopic=52786 A thread I found that answers your question. http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=52833
  13. Yep...walks/talks/smells like spam to me too...
  14. It depends on what attachment that so-called "badge" has on it. If it's a straight pin, there should be two holes for the pin to go through and then fasten at the bottom hole.
  15. It would be good to have their phone number...I may try them next time. I ordered some size 2 and size 4 John James harness needles from the fine leather.com website. Hope they get here soon. Now I need to find a good US source for tiger thread...but from searching on here, doesn't look like that'll ever happen for some reason. Thanks again for the leads on good quality needles.
