  1. I just read my previous answer and found it was incomplete. Though the bridle leather I've gotten from WC looks great on both sides (dyed, smooth, etc.), the flesh side isn't quite as smooth and shiny as the grain side. Both sides look very well finished, but you can see a difference between the grain and flesh sides. My previous answer sort of implied they'd look the same so I wanted to clarify that.
  2. Bridle leather is "finished" on both sides. I have a bridle side from Wickett and Craig and it looks very nice on the flesh side...and the grain side too of course.
  3. Might check with Bruce Johnson for a nice used one.
  4. http://www.acronymfinder.com/Fixed-That-for-You-(FTFY).html As in I changed it from "stylist" to "stylus" (the CORRECT term for the tool).
  5. For that price, he could damn near fly over and deliver it in person!
  6. Watch this one now... Make sure you are doing the stitching exactly the same way on every stitch. Cast the overhand knot if stitching thick pieces. Finally, make sure you're awl is going through straight and at exactly the same angle every time. Once I did these things, my stitching looks the same on both sides.
  7. I didn't do that to "correct" you. I did it so that when people search for "CAVALRY" on here, your post would show up for them because it never would the way you spelled it. Sheesh...try and help someone...
  8. Might be able to find more info if you spell cavalry <----- that way. Also, it will help your post come up in a search with it spelled that way.
  9. What I do to combat things like this is preemptively block them whenever possible. For instance, if I get a PITA buyer that asks a lot of stupid, dumb questions that are already covered in my listings, they go straight on my block list. Oh, I'll go ahead and take time to answer their questions (AGAIN) alright, but they're not going to be able to buy from me...at least on ebay. I'm not sure if etsy will allow you to block buyers. Then they get a rude awakening if/when they ever decide to stop with the tire kicking and go ahead and actually BUY something...they can't. At that point, they will send me a plaintive message and that's when I direct them to my website. Works great for me. Oh, and I also don't give away my work for almost nothing. I price it accordingly and that keeps out the riff-raff for the most part. There is the occasional PITA customer still, but not as many as when I sold cheaper items. I don't do that anymore and now I don't have as many bad customers.
  10. Selling the following as a set. All are new or used very, very little: 1 - Tandy comfort grip swivel knife (http://www.amazon.com/Tandy-Leather-Handle-Swivel-8004-00/dp/B0046VJPL4/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1405094679&sr=8-2-fkmr1) 1 - Edger, #4 (http://www.amazon.com/Tandy-Leather-Craftool-Beveler-8076-04/dp/B00435TDJC/ref=sr_1_sc_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1405094895&sr=8-5-spell) 1 - Edger, #5 (www.amazon.com/Tandy-8076-05-Edge-Beveler-Size/dp/B001QT4Y7Y/ref=sr_1_sc_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1405094964&sr=8-4-spell) 1 - Stitch Groover (http://www.amazon.com/Tandy-Leather-Stitching-Groover-88081-00/dp/B004NEEYII/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1405095017&sr=8-1) 1 - Tandy Leather Craftool Spacer Set System (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0038HWMB2/ref=ox_ya_os_product_refresh_T1) 1 - Tandy Leather Nylon Edge Slicker (www.amazon.com/Tandy-Leather-Nylon-Slicker-8122-00/dp/B001S1BP6I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1405095098&sr=8-1) Price for all these tools if you bought them new would be $117.00. I will sell all of the above as a set for $90 and that includes insured shipping with tracking in the US. USPS postal money order only please. PayPal is ok if you can send using the "gift" option. I think I may have an additional Tandy swivel knife and if so, I will include that for you as well. I will not break up the set. If you want to get into leatherworking and want to get a good beginner's set without having to buy everything brand new, this would be a good set for you. Selling these because my leatherwork is primarily in braiding and making cases (using pricking irons instead of overstitch wheels and not really carving/stamping, so no need for these...) Thanks for looking...
  11. So this is the aluminum version vs. the cast iron version then?
  12. I'd like to try some out in either 0.8mm or 0.6mm if you have any in that size please...
  13. Sure wish I could buy some good rawhide from someone...I live in town so cannot process my own. But I can cut it into string if I could find some good round(ish) pieces to buy.....
  14. Does the plane work on veg tan only or can you use it on chrome tan also?
  15. You might want to obtain the manual for your machine as that will contain things like which thread sizes it can use. If you don't know how to sew using a machine, I would highly recommend going to youtube and checking out some of their video tutorials for basic machine operation prior to trying to operate the machine.
  16. That's bigger than I need...I wonder if they have V90 thread in a lot of colors...in bonded poly...I'll go check them out...thanks for the link...
  17. I think Dixon will pretty much make any width and SPI someone wants. Wouldn't think it would be rare. I'm not in the market for that high SPI so I don't have any vested interest in what you sell it for...
  18. Care to share the source you found for this thread please??
  19. Is this the same as this one? http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=53331 ...or is this a second one you have for sale?
  20. That's what I do (no refunds). It's their responsibility to take proper measurements exactly as I instruct them to do...if they don't, they get to pay for another of the same item. Sure makes them take measuring more seriously and use MY instructions instead of whatever they were wanting to do...and yes, I make this absolutely clear upfront, before I even begin working on their item(s).
