  1. Movies like LOTR ought to come out more often! (I wish!!!) I'm a nut for that genre, and was VERY disappointed to see that the Dragonlance movies are coming out as animation. There are lots of good movies in the fantasy genre (Narnia, LOTR, Dragonheart) and some with a more sci fi "tinge" (Reign of Fire) that show special effects and costuming can be combined with good acting to bring out an enjoyable movie experience for fans.
  2. I'm still waiting for our store to get the books too (Allentown, PA) They were hoping for them this past week, but expect them this week. As to getting them off Amazon, you'd have to pay shipping there anyhow...
  3. Cabelas is opening a store in the near future in the Meadowlands area. You might see if they'd like to have you supply them with custom holsters. I know a local here in Hamburg, PA, who stocks the store here. Or you might want to work in that area of the store...don't know where that is in relation to Oxford though.
  4. I'm running at 2-hr class for youth through adult that meets at a church in town every Thur. this summer. (The youngest is my son, who is almost 3, but most of the time he just plays with his toy cars) Kids range from 6-15, then there are a few parents who join in. I took Tandy's camp/summer catalog flier with me to the first session, showed them what to pick from, and I charge a flat 5.00/class. We picked out: Keyrings Pocket knife cases Wristbands (I cut the straps, then we measured them and set snaps there) Belts Dreamcatchers Medicine bags Arrowhead shapes I bring my tool block with various craftools, my 3-D stamps, a couple alphabet sets, and an assortment of dyes to each class, and of course GLOVES.
  5. I'd recommend contacting them directly. They're done for this year, but likely willing to take offers for next.
  6. Well, I'm on the lucky end of things. Ironically, I took a p/t job to ease the bills and found it was a wonderful way to get Ethan and I out of each other's hair for a few hours each day. Heard of Cabela's? I'm working in the Gift Cabin at our local store.
  7. Back to the original question: I have a few different size tool racks (wood blocks with holes in them) from Tandy, and I DO NOT organize the tools in alphabetic/catalog order. I organize them according to how much I use them. Yes, I do put all the bevelers together, but I have the pear shaders right next to them in the front row of the block. I put all the flowery tools (i.e. roses and leaves) in one section, all the "cutesy" little animals (i.e. cat, dog, butterfly) in one section, etc etc. As to the submerging leather issue: when I teach, I tell kids to NOT soak the leather too much or we'd be there all day waiting for it to dry enough to use. We swipe it across the top with a (water) wet sponge, and they begin stamping. These, of course, are small projects. When I personally am doing a large piece, I will submerge it first, then let it dry overnight, then re-wet the top before I begin working on it. Just my .02
  8. He is! He's terrific about my toddler rearranging the stock whenever we're in too  Ethan seems to have a thing for the spools of lace and removes them all from the shelf to line up along the floor in neat color coded rows....
  9. Jackson: home of one of the best amusement parks around : Great Adventure! I'm a roller coaster freak.
  10. I'm in Hamburg, which I think isn't too far from you? I'm new to the area.
  11. I was born and raised in Jersey - Hunterdon County, outside of Clinton/Flemington area. Where are you from?
  12. That's GORGEOUS! I really like how you finished off the sides/edges of the drum.
  13. I've actually had the same problem with the paste, esp. if it gets even a tiny bit of water on it.
  14. Happy to help I remember at the time searching on the 'net for other drum head suppliers and there were quite a few. But since it was my first few tries, I didn't want to wreck something of a nice quality.
  15. That's a really pretty picture Around here there seems to be superficial interest in learning leather - i.e. the scouts in our local troop begged me to get the merit badge counselor application - but now that I'm "official" NONE of them have come to earn their badge! Here is my SC humor for you: My sister went to college at Furman. We are all from NJ (though I'm in PA now). It snowed her first winter there, and the highways and everything were all closed down because no one knew what to do about snow! We still laugh about that up here...
  16. I laid the pattern over top and used a stylus to trace it. This made a very faint imprint of the design. Then I used fabric markers to paint on the design itself. I remember it was VERY difficult to trace on the design - hard to see it, that is, when I'd traced it on.
  17. My best friend, Frank Cardenal, is selling his Tippman for 950.00 It comes with many attachments. He's going to list it on eBay, but I told him I'd also post it here. Let me know if you're interested and I'll pass it along.
  18. Listing the following for sale: (all prices include the shipping costs) Several originals of the Celtic Targe doodle page by Jason Pate (a very popular item at Faires) : 2.00 each Craftool Tech-Tips by Al Stohlman : 10.00 Design Artistry by F.O. Baird : 50.00 I also have the Leather Secrets book by F.O. Baird and if someone is REALLY interested in that one, write me and I might be willing to part with it...
  19. That's some nice work! Teeny tiny stitching!
  20. Thanks all My cousin ADORED it, and her future mom in law was amazed too (she'd not seen this type of handiwork before)
  21. Hmmmm, candyleather that's a tough choice! Tim bought me a beautiful set of jewelry when our son was born - sapphire and diamond - but leatherwork can be alot more versatile and useful.
  22. This is probably one of the easiest to use types of knot-drawing software out there. (I call it a program, but my techie husband scolds me for the misnomer). It's actually a font that you download onto your computer. I personally use it in MSWord. Go to clanbadge.com and see for yourself. You can get it in various computer formats, and it is very versatile.
  23. Here is the finished product. I was mostly pleased with it, but was frustrated by difficulties setting the rivets in the correct places (I should've been more careful there, consequently there are dot marks where I initially thought I'd be putting some in). But it doesn't really show when hanging up. Also, it would've been wiser to put the stone rivets closer in, because that near to the edge there are bumps. I ended up removing the self adhesive numbers because they simply didn't stick well enough, and were too small for gluing on easily.
  24. That is really nice!
  25. I decided to add some numbering too, and will send a pic of the finished product before it's given to my cousin this Sat.
